Well-Known Artist Pays The Price For Shocking Anti-American Rant

The Neon City Festival, set to take over Las Vegas this November, has announced a major shift in its headlining acts.

Originally set to feature chart-topping rapper Macklemore, the festival recently posted an unexpected update about the lineup, noting that the artist will no longer be performing due to “unforeseen circumstances.” The sudden change comes less than a week after Macklemore was named as one of the top acts for the festival. However, reports indicate that his removal is tied to his controversial outburst during Saturday’s performance after a Mariners’ baseball game.

The artist, known for hits like “Thrift Shop” and “Same Love,” was performing “God Bless America” during the seventh inning stretch. Later that evening while performing at a separate venue, he yelled a shocking declaration on stage: “F—k America.” The crowd responded with cheers.

The lineup for the Neon City Festival was revealed on September 19, with Macklemore initially listed as a headliner. However, following his anti-American comment over the weekend, he was later removed from the festival’s lineup on Tuesday.

The remarks, which targeted U.S. policies particularly regarding Israel and Palestine, ignited a firestorm of criticism. Macklemore, who has been vocal in his support of Palestine and critical of American leaders for backing Israel, seemed to cross a line that the festival organizers weren’t willing to overlook.

The Neon City Festival will feature a fresh lineup of headliners, including DJ Alison Wonderland, rock band Neon Trees, singer-songwriter Russell Dickerson, and DJ Seven Lions. The event, running from November 22-24, is expected to draw huge crowds, with the full lineup to be released later this week. “Please note: Macklemore will no longer be performing due to unforeseen circumstances,” they wrote on Instagram. “Get ready for epic performances from Alison Wonderland, Neon Trees, Russell Dickerson, and Seven Lions!”

Macklemore released a statement on Wednesday, saying, “My thoughts and feelings are not always expressed perfectly or politely. Sometimes I slip up and get caught in the moment. Saturday night was one of those times.” He continued, “Unfortunately, the historic event in my hometown that brought thousands of people together to raise awareness and money for the people of Palestine has become overshadowed by two words.”

“I’ve lost endorsements, I’ve lost business ties. I am still here, unwavering in my support for a Free Palestine.” he concluded.
