White House ‘Doomsday Plane’ Seen Circling US Nuke Command Center

President Donald Trump’s airborne emergency command post was spotted circling over a key U.S. military installation Monday, drawing attention as tensions simmer overseas.

The Boeing E-4B “Nightwatch,” often dubbed the “Doomsday plane,” made multiple loops above Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska, home to America’s nuclear command infrastructure.

The aircraft serves as a flying command center for top officials, including the president, vice president, and defense leadership, during national emergencies. It’s a heavily modified Boeing 747 built to withstand nuclear blasts, electromagnetic pulses, and other worst-case scenarios.

Flight tracking data shows the E-4B departing Offutt at 10:17 a.m. ET and making at least six passes over the area before heading east toward rural airspace roughly 40 miles away.

Offutt is also the primary base for the E-4B fleet, and officials have long said such flights are routine training missions to keep crews ready for a crisis.

Those exercises typically include instrument approaches, touch-and-go landings, low-level maneuvers and holding patterns. The relatively quiet airspace south and southeast of the base allows pilots to run repeated drills without interfering with commercial traffic in busier corridors near Omaha.

Monday’s flight pattern included several low approaches followed by immediate takeoffs, a standard “touch-and-go” maneuver used to sharpen rapid-response capabilities.

At least one E-4B, designated the National Airborne Operations Center, is kept on constant alert status.

The Air Force has consistently described these flights as routine readiness missions and has previously released images of similar training runs over the Midwest.

The latest activity comes as Iran rejected a last-minute ceasefire proposal tied to efforts to ease conflict in the Middle East.

Trump has warned Tehran of severe consequences if it does not agree to reopen a key global energy route, saying the U.S. could rain “hell” on the regime without a deal.
