MUST-SEE: Whoopi Goldberg Lashes Out At Barack Obama
Comedian Whoopi Goldberg wasn’t laughing at the news that former President Barack Obama told his party to “toughen” after facing a punishing series of defeats since the start of the second Trump administration.
“The View” host took time out of her daytime monologues to reprimand the man she once held up on a pedestal, reminding him that there’s little Democrats can do while they’re totally out of power in Washington, D.C. Mark Cuban, the eccentric billionaire who frequently clashes with Trump, also caught a stray round from Goldberg for his criticism of Democrats’ lackluster opposition.
“So, let me remind everybody who is out on the front lines marching when we had the giant marches that went on, it was the people, the people went out,” co-host Whoopi Goldberg said.
“They were not navel-gazing, it was older people saying, ‘why are you touching my Social Security?’ It was not people whining. It was about people saying, ‘Why are you taking these rights from my child when my child was born here?’ This has not been about Democrats laying back. This has been about y’all, because their messaging was always the same.”
Goldberg was referring to Obama’s speech at a private fundraiser on Friday in New Jersey, where he encouraged attendees frustrated by President Donald Trump to “stand up for the things that you think are right.”
“I think it’s going to require a little bit less navel-gazing and a little less whining and being in fetal positions. And it’s going to require Democrats to just toughen up,” Obama said.
To Goldberg, the base of their party is still unforgiving of Obama’s attempts to shove former Vice President Kamala Harris out of last year’s race.
“Democrats have been angry at what this man tried to do the last time. They’ve been angry this time. So, I, with much due respect to you both, I believe you are pointing the finger at the wrong person when you say Democrats,” Goldberg said.
Co-host Sara Haines tepidly agreed. “Voters are very impassioned,” she weakly offered.
Goldberg continued, “When you say Democrats, he’s talking to us, saying our messaging is bad, and I’m saying, no, our messaging has not been bad because people have been out.”
Cuban was another target of Goldberg’s ire over his recent comments on a podcast where he chided Democrats for picking “the wrong pressure points” in their fight against Trump.
“It’s just ‘Trump sucks.’ That’s the underlying thought of everything the Democrats do. ‘Trump sucks.’ Trump says the sky is blue. ‘Trump sucks,'” he said Sunday on “Pod Save America.”
“That’s not the way to win! It’s just not! Because it’s not about Trump — it’s about the people of the United States of America — and what’s good for them!”

Co-host Ana Navarro first took aim at Cuban, adding, “Yeah, OK, so some of us say Donald Trump sucks. He does suck, and it feels good to say it!”
Goldberg finished her rant by countering that Democrats aren’t looking for a messiah, as Obama put it, but rather an inspiring cohort of candidates for 2028.
“Stop looking for the quick fix,” Obama said. “Stop looking for the messiah. You have great candidates running races right now. Support those candidates.”
Haines cited the recent addition of deportation funding by Congress, which was passed over unanimous Democratic objections.
“It would be a ripe time for some elected Democrat to come forward with a secondary plan that isn’t just ‘march against ICE agents in sanctuary cities.’ People want commonsense solutions and no Democrat is coming out and saying, ‘This a decades-old problem. It crosses all administrations, but here’s what I’m proposing.’ I’ve heard none of that,” Haines said, according to Fox News.
