The internet is mocking Barbra Streisand after she learned a hard lesson about posting public comments on Instagram earlier this week.
The woke actress woke up to mockery after appearing to accidentally post a comment under a new post by Melissa McCarthy asking her colleague if she was using weight loss-enhancing drugs to look so slim in her latest photo alongside choreographer Matthew Bourne. Streisand suggested Ozempic was behind McCarthy’s transformation, sparking an online discussion about the cosmetic use of expensive injections originally intended to manage diabetes.
“Give him my regards did you take Ozempic?” Streisand wrote, referencing director Adam Shankman in a second photo posted by McCarthy. The comment was quickly deleted, but not before multiple users grabbed screenshots, according to the Daily Caller.

“OMG I love Barbra. That’s something my aunt would say. No filters,” wrote one commenter. Another joked, “That’s something I would do… and my phone would immediately ring with one of my adult my kids yelling, ‘MOM!'” A third commiserated with the 82-year-old: “Barbra Streisand, like me, clearly has no inner censor.”

In a follow-up post on Instagram, Streisand deflected questions from readers on whether or not she was endorsing the use of Ozempic, Wegovy, or similar weight loss medications.
“OMG I went on Instagram to see the photos we’d posted of the beautiful flowers I’d received for my birthday,” the singer wrote. “Below them was a photo of a friend Melissa McCarthy, who I sang with on my Encore album. She looked fantastic! I just wanted to pay her a compliment. I forgot the world is reading.”

Streisand and McCarthy have worked together in the past, according to ABC News. Their last performance was a duet in the 2016 song “Anything You Can Do.” But while the two may be familial, Streisand’s question prompted soul-searching among followers about when or if it’s ever okay to ask a friend about weight loss. “Why is it that people that haven’t had obesity care so much – what does it matter Barbara? If she has or hasn’t it’s not your concern,” wrote one commenter, adding, “and even if it was meant to be a DM – still rude!”
“Ozempic admit or keep silent!!” wrote another commenter. “Not one celebrity has admitted to losing over the magic number of 40 pounds in every article written around the world. No one wants to admit they have been on the med for a year and have dropped 6 sizes and trying to explain away only 40 pounds. Total nonsense.”
Thanks in part to Hollywood, more Americans than ever are capitalizing on the immediate benefits of breakthrough drugs like Wegovy that users have credited with helping them lose weight after years of failed attempts at reforming their diets and exercise routines. However, some users have reported a number of side effects including severe nausea, lack of appetite, or quickly regaining their weight if they suddenly stop taking the $1,000-per-month medication, which is not always covered by insurance.
