Woke ‘Snow White’ Actress Publicly Torched By Producer’s Son

The son of Disney producer Marc Platt is firing back—hard—after one Instagram user questioned his father’s decision to fly to New York to confront actress Rachel Zegler over the disastrous rollout of Disney’s live-action Snow White remake.

Jonah Platt, a Broadway performer and the producer’s son, responded to criticism of his dad’s involvement in reprimanding Zegler by delivering a scorched-earth response, blaming the 23-year-old actress for tanking the $270 million film.

“You really want to do this?” Platt wrote. “Yeah, my dad, the producer of enormous piece of Disney IP with hundreds of millions of dollars on the line, had to leave his family to fly across the country to reprimand his 20-year-old employee for dragging her personal politics into the middle of promoting the movie.”

He continued: “She signed a multi-million dollar contract to get paid and do publicity. This is called adult responsibility and accountability.”

Platt didn’t hold back in his criticism of Zegler’s political grandstanding, which many fans and insiders believe derailed the project.

“Her actions clearly hurt the film’s box office,” he wrote. “Free speech does not mean you’re allowed to say whatever you want in your private employment without repercussions… Narcissism is not something to be coddled or encouraged.”

The comments come amid mounting backlash against Disney’s new Snow White, which is already being labeled one of the studio’s biggest box office flops.

The film, directed by Marc Webb and starring Zegler alongside Gal Gadot, has been tracking well below projections ahead of its March 21 release.

Controversy has surrounded the production since the beginning, including criticism from actor Peter Dinklage over the portrayal of dwarfs—prompting Disney to swap them out for “magical creatures,” which drew even more ridicule.

MATRAMAN, INDONESIA – MARCH 23, 2025: Review of Snow White (2025 film). This film directed by Marc Webb and written by Erin Cressida Wilson.

But the loudest pushback came after Zegler herself took aim at the 1937 original film in a 2022 interview, dismissing the classic love story and labeling the Prince as “a guy who literally stalks her.”

Zegler added that Snow White would no longer be “waiting for true love,” a comment many fans took as an unnecessary political injection into a beloved fairy tale.

Industry analysts say those comments and others from Zegler created a toxic marketing environment that distracted from the film and alienated its core audience.

London, United Kingdom – November 9, 2023: Rachel Zegler arrives at “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” World Premiere at BFI IMAX Waterloo in London, England.

On Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds a weak 42% approval score. Over on IMDb, it’s sitting at an abysmal 1.5/10, while Metacritic offers a more neutral but still underwhelming 50%.

Despite the excitement built around the official trailer — the final product has failed to live up to expectations.

Audience response hasn’t been much better, with a CinemaScore of “B+” and only 43% of PostTrak viewers saying they would recommend it. Despite Disney’s hopes, this Snow White is far from the fairest of them all.

It’s another troubling sign for Disney, which has faced a string of costly flops in recent years.
