A New York City woman who was arrested for allegedly threatening to kill President Donald Trump was quietly released by an infamous Obama-appointed federal judge last week.

Chief U.S. District Judge for the District of Columbia James Boasberg released Nathalie Rose Jones, a 50-year-old New York City resident, under electronic monitoring on August 27. She was also ordered to see a psychiatrist once she returns home, according to court documents reviewed by the New York Post.

The unexpected release comes just days comes just days after US Magistrate Judge Moxila Upadhyaya denied Jones bond over persistent threats against the president she posted on social media. “Here’s where we are,” Jones wrote in one particularly lengthy post on August 6.

“I literally told FBI in five states today that I am willing to sacrificially kill this POTUS by disemboweling him and cutting out his trachea with Liz Cheney and all The Affirmation present,” she allegedly wrote, ending the post with, “Let’s deal with this and restore domestic tranquility.”

In another post, Jones allegedly called on Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to “please arrange the arrest and removal ceremony of POTUS Trump as a terrorist on the American People from 10-2pm at the White House on Saturday, August 16th, 2025.”

Officials first became aware of Jones’ posts on August 2, which prompted an official inquiry from Secret Service agents. In an August 15 interview, she confidently told agents that she would “carry out the mission of killing” Trump with a “bladed object” if she ever got the opportunity.

Jones’ posts were flagged by multiple federal law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and the Department of Homeland Security.

Friends of the suspect told Judge Boasberg that she has a history of “schizophrenia” and mental illness but has never become violent, Law and Crime reported.

“Threatening the life of the President is one of the most serious crimes and one that will be met with swift and unwavering prosecution,” D.C. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro said when announcing the arrest. “Make no mistake — justice will be served.”

Jones is currently awaiting trial on felony charges of threatening to kill the president.
