Nikki Garcia, previously known as Nikki Bella, has officially filed for divorce from Artem Chigvintsev, ending their two-year marriage, according to Closer. The 40-year-old former WWE superstar submitted the legal documents on Wednesday, September 11, in Napa Valley, California.

The legal action comes shortly after Chigvintsev’s arrest in Napa Valley on August 29, where he was charged with felony corporal injury to a spouse or cohabitant and later released on a $25,000 bail. Nikki began searching for divorce lawyers the day following Artem’s arrest.

The couple shares a 4-year-old son, Matteo. It remains unclear whether there is a prenuptial agreement involved. Nikki has returned to the family home in Napa Valley with Matteo, while Artem is reportedly staying at a friend’s place. According to TMZ, Artem was arrested after he called 911 to request medical assistance for the alleged victim. Although he later canceled the request, police still responded to the home, as confirmed by radio dispatch audio.

The dispatcher recorded, “There is a child on scene. Medical en route,” and added, “There’s an active 415 [disturbing the peace] in the background responsible.” Although Artem and Nikki were physically separated, police arrived an hour later, observed visible injuries on the alleged victim, and later arrested Artem for felony corporal injury to a spouse.

“When it comes to felony domestic violence, it’s not based on hearsay. The deputies saw something that is apparent,” said Napa County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Henry Wofford in a statement after the arrest. “I’m not telling you this is what happened in this particular case, but sometimes there would be evidence of blood, sometimes scratches, sometimes it’s bruises — it’s something visible where the deputies said, ‘OK, we’re making this arrest.”’
