REPORT: Infamous Celebrity Who Fled America Because Of Trump Is Moving Back

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi may be quietly plotting a West Coast comeback after ditching the U.S. for a cozy British retreat, according to new reports.

The couple fled to the Cotswolds after Donald Trump’s election win, unloading their massive real estate portfolio and vowing to restart life across the pond. Now the same pair who swore off America are said to be eyeing a return to California, at least for the holidays, and possibly much longer.

Some insiders chalk up the trip to avoiding cold weather, but others say de Rossi has been itching to get back into acting, a plan that’s tough to execute while tucked away in the English countryside. Either way, the pair will need a new place to land. After liquidating their U.S. properties, they would have to shell out for a fresh home or settle into a hotel or Airbnb.

The Daily Mail reports the pair realized they “miss their friends,” a notable shift after years of insisting life “is just better” in the U.K. DeGeneres herself once admitted their move was tied to Trump’s win, telling friends she wanted nothing to do with the political climate back home.

“Ellen was adamant that she and Portia were going to stay in the UK while Trump was in the White House, but evidently she’s changed her mind somewhat,” a source told the outlet.

“She’s been telling friends they are coming home soon because they miss them and can’t take the winters over there, and Portia wants to act again. They will be here for the holidays and longer by the sound of it,” the source added.

That’s a far cry from the confident boasts they made after flipping their original Oxfordshire place for a sweeping hilltop estate built to accommodate de Rossi’s beloved horses.

“When we decided to live here full-time, we knew that Portia couldn’t live without her horses. We needed a home that had a horse facility and pastures for them,” DeGeneres said at the time.

Now the couple’s timeline is anyone’s guess. A source close to DeGeneres insisted their U.S. stay is only temporary, but refused to say for how long specifically.

“Ellen was very clear that they’re coming back to California sooner rather than later. They miss the warm weather and their friends,” the source said.

For a pair who swore off the States, it looks like California sunshine — and a few familiar faces — might be enough to pull them back.
