BREAKING: Maria Bartiromo In Talks To Join Major Network After Fox News Departure: Report
Maria Bartiromo may already be eyeing her television comeback, with the longtime business news star reportedly holding talks with CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss about a potential role at the network.
Bartiromo and Weiss have spoken about the possibility of working together, with a spot on CBS’ flagship “60 Minutes” among the options discussed, according to Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice newsletter.
“Maria and Bari have already spoken,” a television insider told Shuter. “Maria isn’t sitting around licking her wounds. She’s moving fast, and 60 Minutes is absolutely in the mix.”
The reported talks surfaced just days after Fox News Media announced Bartiromo’s abrupt departure following more than 12 years with the company.
“Effective today, Maria Bartiromo is no longer with FOX News Media,” the network announced Sept. 3.
“We thank Maria for her work over the last 12 ½ years and wish her all the best on her next chapter,” Fox added.
Fox did not give a specific reason for the move in its public announcement. A network spokesperson separately described the departure as a “business decision,” while Axios reported that a Fox spokesperson confirmed Bartiromo had been fired for business reasons.
Bartiromo’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, has fiercely disputed that account, insisting reports that his client was fired or is no longer employed by Fox are false.
“The irresponsible reports that have been published stating that Maria Bartiromo was fired or is no longer an employee of Fox are absolutely and unequivocally false,” Freedman said. “Make no mistake, we have the receipts and witnesses and they will come out whether through the courthouse or otherwise.”
He added, “Those reporting her firing or the incredulous facts supporting that fiction have exhibited a complete and utter reckless disregard for the truth.”
The clash followed a report from Status alleging Bartiromo shared confidential internal Fox editorial guidance with the White House concerning the network’s coverage of President Donald Trump.

Neither Fox’s public announcement nor its statement describing the move as a business decision cited the alleged leak as the reason for Bartiromo’s departure.
Now, Bartiromo reportedly has her sights set on remaining a major force in television news.
Shuter reported that the veteran financial journalist wants to remain “a major player” in the industry and has discussed a potential CBS role with Weiss. No agreement between Bartiromo and CBS has been publicly announced.
“Maria brings something Bari understands is valuable: access,” the insider said, noting that she could reach “CEOs, billionaires, political power players and Wall Street titans.”
Bartiromo built her national profile around financial and political coverage, first becoming one of CNBC’s biggest stars before moving to Fox in 2014. She eventually hosted three programs across Fox News and Fox Business.
“Maria believes she still belongs at the biggest table in television. There is no bigger table than 60 Minutes,” the source continued.
The potential CBS move is only the latest speculation surrounding Maria Bartiromo since her Fox exit.

Her name was also floated as a possible replacement for Karoline Leavitt as White House press secretary, though Vice President JD Vance quickly poured cold water on that possibility when asked about it during a Sept. 3 White House briefing.
“I don’t know, man. No, I don’t think so,” Vance said before praising Bartiromo and saying he had not spoken with her about her Fox departure.
President Trump also weighed in after Fox announced the split, offering a glowing assessment of the longtime anchor.
“I can’t believe Maria Bartiromo is no longer going to have her great show(s) on FoxNews/Business. Three different shows, always number one. Maria is a total professional, and a true warrior,” the president wrote on Truth Social.
He added, “Her fans, of which there are many, will not be happy. God bless you, Maria!”
