JUST IN: Embattled Trump Official Resigns
Kimberly Guilfoyle is heading for the exits, but she isn’t backing away from President Donald Trump.
Guilfoyle acknowledged Tuesday that her tenure as U.S. ambassador to Greece was coming to an end after the White House asked her to resign, defending her record and vowing to fight the misconduct allegations that have engulfed her diplomatic assignment.
“While my time as Ambassador may be coming to an end, my commitment to President Trump, the America First movement, and the country I love will never end.”
The statement, posted on X, followed White House press secretary Katie Zacharia’s announcement during her first briefing Tuesday that the administration had requested Guilfoyle’s resignation.
“We have asked Ambassador Guilfoyle to resign. She has been a wonderful asset to the team and we wish her well,” Zacharia said.
Trump had indicated Monday that he was considering removing Guilfoyle, whose financial dealings have drawn scrutiny following a series of Wall Street Journal reports.
One report alleged that Guilfoyle asked Trump donor Eric Deters to cover a $100,000 personal credit card bill before her Senate confirmation hearing and offered to use her administration connections to help with his legal and tax matters. Deters declined to pay the bill.
Guilfoyle directly challenged the accusations in her statement Tuesday.

“I also want to address the recent allegations against me. These allegations are false, and I intend to vigorously defend my name, my reputation, and my integrity. I have dedicated my professional life to fighting for justice, standing up for what is right, and defending the values that make America exceptional. I will not allow false accusations to define my decades of public service.”
Her lawyers have previously said she was seeking unpaid fees for public appearances and speaking engagements that predated her nomination. They also denied impropriety involving private plane travel, maintaining that she followed State Department guidance.
Guilfoyle opened her statement by thanking Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio for the opportunity to represent the United States.

“Serving as the United States Ambassador to Greece has been the honor of a lifetime. I will forever be grateful to President Donald J. Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio for entrusting me with the extraordinary privilege of representing the greatest country in the history of the world.”
She pointed to efforts to expand American liquefied natural gas exports to Europe, strengthen defense cooperation with Greece and increase opportunities for American businesses. She also highlighted work on the Vertical Corridor, an energy initiative aimed at reducing Europe’s reliance on Russian supplies.
Guilfoyle credited Trump, Rubio and American diplomats for those accomplishments and pledged continued support for the administration.
“My gratitude and respect for President Trump and Secretary Rubio remain unwavering. I am proud of what we accomplished together, and I will always be a loyal supporter of President Trump and his mission to Make America Great Again.”
