WATCH: Peter Doocy Corners Biden Admin Over Lack Of Action Against China For Alleged Wuhan Leak
Fox News’ Peter Doocy pressured the Biden administration to hold China accountable if the 2019 Wuhan lab leak truly resulted in the COVID-19 pandemic.
Doocy asked National Security Council spokesman John Kirby if President Biden will do anything to investigate China after both the Department of Energy and FBI concluded COVID may have originated from the Wuhan lab leak.
Kirby refused to answer whether the president would support a bill that is calling for the declassification of any U.S. intelligence surrounding COVID’s origins. “A bill requiring the [Director of National Intelligence] to declassify the Covid origins intel passed the Senate. If it passes the House too, will President Biden sign it?” Doocy asked.
“I won’t get ahead of the president’s decision-making,” Kirby responded, dodging the question. “You have the FBI director saying it was most likely a potential lab incident in Wuhan,” Doocy fired back.
“If a foreign country came to the United States and killed 1.1 million Americans with guns, would the president just let that slide?” Doocy added. “Nobody is letting anything slide. That’s why the president wants the intelligence community to work so hard to get to hopefully some answers that we can rely on. Right now there is just no consensus,” Kirby explained.

On Thursday the Senate passed the “COVID-19 Origin Act of 2023” bill. This proposed legislation would order the Director of National Intelligence to declassify any and all intelligence related to COVID-19’s origins.
Currently, both the Department of Energy and the FBI have concluded (without complete confidence) that COVID originated from the Wuhan lab leak. The Department of Energy was undecided in its findings up until last week, when the Wall Street Journal revealed classified documents suggested COVID may have come from the lab leak and did not occur naturally.
The pressure on the Biden admin to declassify COVID-related intelligence documents comes as the former Chief Medical Advisor to President Biden, Dr. Anthony Fauci, has been accused of using a pass-through organization to fund gain-of-function research before the coronavirus pandemic. Last week, Twitter CEO Elon Musk accused Fauci of funding gain-of-function research at the Wuhan lab.
