WATCH: Melania Trump Gives Heartwarming Speech Congratulating New Immigrants on Citizenship
Former First Lady Melania Trump stopped by the citizenship ceremony for dozens of new Americans, telling the legal migrants that they are setting a great example to the rest of the world about perseverance.
At the National Archives in Washington, the wife to former President Donald Trump told the new citizens that they will live richer, fuller lives having conquered the adversity that comes with pursuing American citizenship.
“It is my privilege to share America, this great nation, with you… Obstacles often stand in the way of our goals. We persevere because we understand that conquering them will provide great access to personal development, fulfillment, and even eventually, self-actualization,” said Melania.

“For me, reaching the milestone of American citizenship marked the sunrise of certainty. At that exact moment, I forever discarded the layer of burden connected with whether I would be able to live in the United States. I hope you are blanketed with similar feelings of comfort right now.”
Speaking about her upbringing in Slovenia, Melania said her parents instilled her with the work ethic to pursue a modeling career while following the rules and regulations that challenged her to confront legal citizenship in the U.S.
“With a goal of securing a worker visa, I began visiting consulates and embassies and compiling the required records of my work experiences. Quickly my life turned into a labyrinth of organizing papers. Back then, the convenience of technology document filing did not exist to the extent it does today. Patience and perseverance became my constant companions as I navigated this web, which I’m sure you can all relate to.
“My dream of becoming a citizen pushed me to meticulously gather every last piece of information required, ensuring that no detail was overlooked. While the challenges were numerous, the rewards were well worth the effort. I applaud you for every step you took, every obstacle you overcame, and every sacrifice you made,” she added.
Melania’s poignant remarks come at a time of strife in the nation’s immigration system as hundreds of thousands have crossed the southern border under the belief that President Joe Biden will allow illegal immigrants to avoid deportation. The influx has overwhelmed sanctuary cities like New York where Mayor Eric Adams earlier this year said the controversy would “destroy” the city’s ability to provide for its residents. President Biden recently opened an immigration “back door” which allows tens of thousands from new countries to seek asylum, guaranteeing that they will be able to work and find lodging without ever pursuing citizenship.
