‘Good Morning America’ Host Fired For Anger Issues

A host of the long-running “Good Morning America” program is out after an internal investigation found evidence of anger issues and inappropriate behavior in the workplace.

The Daily Caller reported on the termination of weatherman Rob Marciano, who was let go Tuesday after failing to heed a warning last year about his tendency to have outbursts on set. At the time, Marciano was briefly pulled off the air for “anger management issues.” His firing ends a 10-year run at the network.

The Cornell graduate made news last year amid complaints by staffers about his behavior on the sets of “Good Morning America” and “World News Tonight.” At one point in 2023, Marciano was temporarily “banned” from the GMA studio in New York’s Times Square for making a colleague feel “uncomfortable” according to Page Six. “He was found to have done something … that was improper, but he was punished for it, and they still haven’t let him return,” said one insider at the time.

The loss has so far not been acknowledged by a spokesperson for ABC or a representative for Marciano, both of whom declined to comment about the ouster. His removal will also hit the network in its field coverage as Marciano occasionally ventured out of the studio to cover major weather events. The New York Post noted his last report came on April 28th while he was in Shreveport, Louisiana covering the devastation that resulted from past hurricanes as part of ABC’s Earth Week coverage. The firing appeared to come as a surprise to Marciano, who posted on Instagram as recently as Tuesday about a storm chaser in Nebraska covering the touchdown of recent tornados.

Sources say some of the tumult may be attributable to Marciano’s ongoing divorce, which was secretly initiated by his wife Eryn during the summer of 2021, Page Six previously reported. The couple has seen turnover in attorneys and a year later were still speaking about the havoc separation was wreaking on the family.

“The last couple of years have been very difficult,” Marciano said in a statement at the time. “I didn’t want this and tried to save the marriage, but we are sadly divorcing. My focus now is on my kids.” The couple had been married for 11 years and shared two children, Madelynn, 10, and Mason, 4. It appeared at first that Marciano and his wife in strife were making the best of it, taking the kids on a joint trip to Disney World in 2022.

“Spring Break @waltdisneyworld — thru the chaos was much needed kiddos quality time — their joy is as we say #magical ☺️,” Rob captioned on his Instagram page. Eryn returned the positivity on Father’s Day, posting, “Happy Father’s Day to my 3!💙💙💙 Missing my Dad today as always, but remembering to be grateful for the world’s best step dad @gdpatterson07 and the love between @robertmarciano and our two littles. Dads are the best!” accompanied by a series of family photos.

Marciano’s firing comes three months after fellow GMA host Michael Strahan spoke about his daughter Isabella’s battle with medulloblastoma, a cancerous and fast-growing brain tumor that affects the cerebellum, the rear of the brain that controls movement and coordination.
