Chris Pratt, actor of Guardians of the Galaxy, Jurassic World, and Parks and Recreation fame, has been outward and fulsome with his Christianity for several years in a profession and industry that both discourage expressions of faith. In a story posted to Instagram, Pratt reinforced this, revealing that he is a regular listener to the “Bible of the Year” podcast by Father Mike Schmitz, having already reached the 221st day in the challenge.

As reported by Breitbart, the podcast by Schmitz is a production of Ascension Press and is prominently featured in the mobile application ‘Hallow,’ the most popular prayer application in the world.

Fellow actor Mark Wahlberg, who has become equally well-known for his devout Catholic faith, partnered with the Hallow app to generate content for the program. Pratt credited Wahlberg in the text of his post, “Here’s what I was listening to on my run portion Bible in a Year Podcast. Have loved using the Hallow App! What a great job, Mark Wahlberg!”

Pratt reportedly said that he probably won’t finish the podcast in a year as intended, but he thought he might in 18 months or so. “It’ll probably be more like Bible in a year and a half but I’m doing my best.”

The podcast, as the name implies, is 365 episodes in length and is intended to guide the listener through a year-long Bible reading plan rooted in the biblical timeline.

According to the podcast website,

“You won’t just read the Bible … you’ll finally understand how all the pieces fit together to tell an amazing story that continues in your life today!”

In his bio the podcast states, “Fr. Mike Schmitz serves as Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry for the Diocese of Duluth and as Chaplain for the Newman Catholic Campus Ministry at the University of Minnesota-Duluth.” He is reportedly known for his popular YouTube videos posted to the Ascension Presents YouTube channel,
