Beloved Pop Star Endorses JD Vance For President In 2028
Rapper Nicki Minaj lit up X on Thursday with a surprise shout-out to Vice President J.D. Vance, praising his debate chops and all but nudging him toward a 2028 run, while taking a swipe at his likely Democratic rival.
“Nothing brings me joy like the Vance memes & knowing he leaned into it like a boss,” she wrote on X. “Top Tier Comedy. Character = 100. But make no mistake, Vance is an assassin. Don’t debate him. On anything. Quick as a computer. Maybe quicker.”
The memes she mentioned — viral posts featuring Vance with an oversized cartoonish head — have been circulating for months. Instead of dodging them, the vice president embraced the joke and even dressed as the meme for Halloween.
Minaj’s praise comes after she raised eyebrows earlier this year for applauding the Trump administration’s stance on the alleged genocide of Christians in Nigeria.
“We don’t have to share the same beliefs in order for us to respect each other,” she wrote on X last month. “Numerous countries all around the world are being affected by this horror & it’s dangerous to pretend we don’t notice. Thank you to The President & his team for taking this seriously. God bless every persecuted Christian. Let’s remember to lift them up in prayer.”
Vance, never one to miss a moment online, played along again Wednesday by signalling that he prefers Minaj over rival rapper Cardi B. “Nicki > Cardi,” he wrote on X.

Minaj volleyed right back Thursday with, “The Vance > The Gav Nots,” a jab clearly aimed at California Gov. Gavin Newsom.
Even U.N. Ambassador Mike Waltz jumped in, amplifying Vance’s post with a wink to Minaj’s loyal fanbase: “VP of the Barbs!”
