BOLD! Amanpour Walks Out on Iranian President For Giving Her Wardrobe Advice

The reason behind Biden’s insistence to continue business with Iran despite reservations from many Americans might have just been made clear to Americans who were oblivious. The United States president has a lot in common with the Islamic Republic of Iran, which might be why Biden is soo drawn to the country.

Just like the Republic that tries to force its values and religion on others, Biden has also taken the same steps by declaring war against the rival party and saying there is only room for the democratic party to thrive in America.

CNN Chief International Anchor Christiane Amanpour recently described her encounter with the Iranian President, Ebrahim Raisi, in a thread she posted on Twitter.

According to Amanpour, she was scheduled to have an interview with Raisi, who was in New York. The interview was also supposed to be a first-time experience for the Iranian President in America, and the anchor had planned to make the discussion fruitful. However, it seems the Iranian President only understood how things were done in his country and failed to act like a Roman in Rome. 

She tweeted, “Protests are sweeping Iran & women are burning their hijabs after the death last week of Mahsa Amini, following her arrest by the “morality police.” Human rights groups say at least 8 have been killed. Last night, I planned to ask President Raisi about all this and much more.”

Though Raisi was in New York, he was uncomfortable with the anchors’ looks as he directed his aide to give Amanpour some wardrobe advice. The aide approached Amanpour and suggested she uses a headscarf before the interview. Though the anchor was not a Muslim, the aide took the liberty to inform her that wearing the headscarf was proper behavior as it was the holy month of Muharram and Safar.

Amanpour said she declined the suggestion, reminding the aide that they were in New York, plus it was the first time such a request had been made of her outside Iranian soil. 

Amanpour continued, “The aide made it clear that the interview would not happen if I did not wear a headscarf. He said it was “a matter of respect” and referred to “the situation in Iran” – alluding to the protests sweeping the country.”

She added that she was baffled because she intended to speak to the President about the headscarf issue as protests were sweeping his country for the same reason. She continued, “I couldn’t agree to this unprecedented and unexpected condition. And so we walked away. The interview didn’t happen. As protests continue in Iran and people are being killed, it would have been an important moment to speak with President Raisi.”

The “My way or no way” method sounds very similar to Biden’s new speeches and actions which leads one to wonder how the Biden administration is still considered a democracy.

Amanpour later added on CNN’s New Day, “I genuinely believe that, a, either he did not want to do the interview, or he did not want to be seen publicly, especially inside Iran with a female journalist who is not wearing a scarf given the circumstances.”
