BREAKING: Trump Announces 10-Day Ceasefire In Middle East
Israel and Lebanon have agreed to a 10-day ceasefire following high-level talks in Washington, President Donald Trump announced Thursday, marking a potential pause in escalating tensions between the two countries.
The temporary truce is set to take effect at 5 p.m. ET, according to a post from Trump on Truth Social.
The president said he had just wrapped up “excellent conversations” with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, signaling direct U.S. involvement in brokering the short-term halt in fighting.
The agreement, Trump wrote, was reached “in order to achieve PEACE between their Countries.”

Trump also said Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Joint Chiefs Chairman Dan Caine will “work with Israel and Lebanon to achieve a Lasting PEACE,” suggesting the administration is aiming to extend the ceasefire beyond the initial 10-day window.
Meanwhile, the situation around Iran is escalating, even as officials leave the door open for potential talks.
The biggest development is the ongoing U.S. naval blockade targeting Iranian ports. American forces have effectively choked off maritime traffic tied to Iran, turning back multiple vessels and warning that any ship attempting to break the blockade could face force. Early reports suggest the move is already disrupting key shipping routes and putting serious pressure on Iran’s oil exports, a major pillar of its economy.

Tehran is starting to feel the squeeze. Iran has halted petrochemical exports to stabilize its domestic market after infrastructure took hits from recent strikes, signaling real economic strain. Analysts say the country can only sustain a shutdown like that for so long before production cuts become unavoidable.
On the military front, tensions remain high. The U.S. has expanded enforcement beyond the Persian Gulf and is signaling it’s willing to pursue Iran-linked vessels globally if necessary. Defense officials have also warned that further escalation remains on the table, including potential strikes on remaining Iranian energy infrastructure if the standoff continues.
Despite the pressure campaign, diplomacy isn’t completely off the table. Recent talks between U.S. and Iranian officials stalled, but both sides have indicated a willingness to keep negotiating.
For now, Iran is under growing economic and military pressure, with the risk of a broader conflict still looming.
