BREAKING: US Shoots Down Iranian Drone ‘Approaching’ American Aircraft Carrier

The ​U.S. ‌military shot ​down an ​Iranian ​drone that ⁠approached the Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier ‌in the Arabian ​Sea, a ‌U.S. ‍official told ⁠Reuters on Tuesday.

The Iranian Shahed-139 drone ​was flying towards the carrier and was reportedly shot down by a F-35 U.S. fighter jet.

The development comes a week after President Donald Trump warned Iran to “come to the table” as the United States moves a powerful naval force into the region, signaling that military action remains firmly on the table if Tehran refuses to negotiate.

Trump confirmed the deployment of the USS Abraham Lincoln and its strike group, describing the move as a direct message to Iran’s leadership and a demonstration of American resolve.

“A massive Armada is heading to Iran. It is moving quickly, with great power, enthusiasm, and purpose. It is a larger fleet, headed by the great Aircraft Carrier Abraham Lincoln, than that sent to Venezuela. Like with Venezuela, it is, ready, willing, and able to rapidly fulfill its mission, with speed and violence, if necessary,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

The president said diplomacy remains his preference, but made clear the consequences if Iran refuses to deal.

“Hopefully Iran will quickly ‘Come to the Table’ and negotiate a fair and equitable deal – NO NUCLEAR WEAPONS – one that is good for all parties. Time is running out, it is truly of the essence! As I told Iran once before, MAKE A DEAL! They didn’t, and there was ‘Operation Midnight Hammer,’ a major destruction of Iran. The next attack will be far worse! Don’t make that happen again,” he added.

Iran’s mission to the United Nations fired back within hours, invoking past U.S. conflicts while vowing to defend the regime if challenged.

“Last time the U.S. blundered into wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, it squandered over $7 trillion and lost more than 7,000 American lives. Iran stands ready for dialogue based on mutual respect and interests—BUT IF PUSHED, IT WILL DEFEND ITSELF AND RESPOND LIKE NEVER BEFORE!” the statement said.
