Conservative Leaders, Members Of Congress Endorse Jim Jordan For House Speaker
Endorsements for U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan’s (R-OH) bid for House Speaker continue to pour in from conservative leaders and members of Congress.
The race for House Speaker has largely been viewed as a two-man race between Jordan and House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA), while U.S. Rep. Kevin Hern (R-OK) is also seeking the job. Both Jordan and Scalise have received a number of endorsements from members of Congress, with Reps. Thomas Massie (R-KY), Matt Gaetz (R-FL), Andy Harris (R-MD), Josh Brecheen (R-OK), Jim Banks (R-IN), Harriet Hageman (R-WY) and others endorsing Jordan.
On Sunday, U.S. Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) became the latest Republican member of Congress to endorse Jordan. “Jim Jordan is an honest man, true to his word and his values,” Mace wrote in an X post. “He’s also a workhorse. He will put people above petty Washington politics. He has my full support to be the next Speaker of the House.”
Jordan has also received a crucial endorsement from former President Donald Trump, who also emerged as a candidate in the immediate aftermath of the vote to remove former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA). Several Republican members had endorsed Trump to replace McCarthy, including Reps.. Marjorie Taylor-Greene (R-GA), Troy Nehls (R-TX) and Greg Steube (R-FL).
In addition to several congressional endorsements, Jordan’s bid for House Speaker has also received support from a number of conservative leaders across the country. Citing his record of fighting for conservative values, conservative leaders from multiple organizations signed a letter Friday announcing their collective endorsement of Jordan, according to a report from The Hill.
“Congressman Jim Jordan has consistently been on the front lines for the Conservative Movement and all Americans since elected,” the letter reads. “His voting record, chairmanship of the House Freedom Caucus, and chairmanship of the committees on the Judiciary and Weaponization of the Federal Government speak to his effectiveness.”
Signatories to the letter cited a number of Jordan’s accomplishments, including passing “the strongest immigration and border enforcement bill ever” and holding the “corrupt Biden DOJ and FBI accountable.”
“This moment comes at a time when our country is at a critical crossroad,” the letter continued. “Congress now has a choice to elect an establishment leader who adopts the same methods that infect the swamp or choose a proven and effective conservative leader who will unite the party.”
The endorsement letter was signed by a number of organizations, including the Conservative Partnership Institute, the Conservative Leadership PAC, the Conservative Partnership Institute and the Center for Renewing America.
Jordan’s bid also received support from a number of leading conservative voices in another letter obtained by Breitbart News. “This week, the House of Representatives successfully vacated the Speaker of the House for the first time in our nation’s history. This moment comes at a time when our country is at a critical crossroad,” top conservatives wrote last week. “Congress now has a choice to elect an establishment leader who adopts the same methods that infect the swamp or choose a proven and effective conservative leader who will unite the party.”
The letter was signed by Former Ohio Treasurer and Secretary of State J. Kenneth Blackwell, former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, Ginni Thomas and several others.
“Congressman Jim Jordan has consistently been on the front lines for the Conservative Movement and all Americans since elected. His voting record, chairmanship of the House Freedom Caucus, and chairmanship of the committees on the Judiciary and Weaponization of the Federal Government speak to his effectiveness,” the letter continued. “Just this Congress, Jordan has passed the strongest immigration and border enforcement bill ever, stopped IRS agents from making unannounced house calls, and held the corrupt Biden DOJ and FBI accountable.”
Jordan confirmed his intent to run for House Speaker after a number of his Republican colleagues asked him to run.
