Delta Employee Shuts Down Transgender Traveler Who Complained About Being “Misgendered”

A Delta Airlines employee at LaGuardia Airport has gone viral after threatening to remove a man complaining about being misgendered. The video, recorded by a friend of Dylan Mulvaney, showed the Delta employee threatening to remove the passenger, who was voicing complaints about being “misgendered.”

Initially shared on TikTok to bash the Delta employee’s behavior, the video ironically backfired, becoming a viral hit. The individual in the video, Tommy Dorfman, complained about experiencing “transphobia” and threats of arrest from Delta, calling for a ‘human rights violation’ after being repeatedly misgendered.

Dorfman, who publicly came out as a transgender woman in 2021, recorded the incident with the intent to highlight perceived transphobic behavior from the Delta employee. However, the unfolding of events and the public’s reaction to the video have sided with the employee.

The employee further communicated their authority to remove Dorfman from the airport, saying “and if you want to continue, I have full authority to escort you out the building right this moment, if you want to play that game with me.”

“When you try to advocate for yourself at @delta and are met woth [sic] even more transpbobia and threats of being arrested at laguardia. tristan, the employee, said he was fine with me posting this. didnt realize it was condescending to flag a human rights violation after another employee misgendered me incessantly,” the caption wrote.

This firm stance sparked various reactions, with many applauding the employee for not capitulating under pressure. Dorfman’s involvement in the incident adds a significant dimension to the conversation.

Tommy Dorfman, known for his role in the Netflix series “13 Reasons Why,” gained significant recognition for playing the character Ryan Shaver in the series, which was a breakout role for him. In 2021, Dorfman publicly came out as a transgender woman in an interview with TIME magazine.
