Congressman Daniel Goldman (D-NY), one of the most outspoken progressives in Congress, is finally getting his comeuppance after bending over backward to defend Hunter Biden at the expense of others.
The Daily Caller has learned that Tony Bobulinksi, a former business partner to Hunter, intends to sue the New York Democrat for defamation. The legal salvo stems from Bobulinski’s first appearance before a congressional committee where Rep. Goldman accused him of making “false allegations” with the help of a Trump-affiliated lawyer.
“Goldman has repeatedly lied about Plaintiff, Anthony Bobulinski, saying that Mr. Bobulinski has used a Trump campaign-paid lawyer to lie since October 2020, spreads Russian disinformation, and is a Trump campaign plant,” reads the complaint filed in D.C. District Court.
“Defendant lied solely to serve his political agenda by deliberately besmirching the character of Mr. Bobulinski and to protect Joe Biden,” it continues.
For months, Rep. Goldman has appeared on various cable shows claiming the son of President Joe Biden is the victim of a “two-tiered justice system” that is unfairly targeting him over his family name.
In June of 2023, the congressman appeared on MSNBC, telling co-host Jonathan Lemire that the investigation into Hunter Biden’s plea deal by House Republicans is a distraction from what he claims are legitimate cases against former President Donald Trump.
“House Republicans, with Donald Trump’s leadership, have been trying to undermine the institutions that hold the powerful accountable. And they’re doing that because they have no defense to the criminal activity of the president, and he is the leader of their party. And in reality, that’s why they are trying to attack the Hunter Biden investigation, which was an exhaustive investigation done by a Trump-appointed U.S. attorney,” Rep. Goldman claimed.
In February, Bobulinski testified before the House Oversight and Judiciary Committees on Tuesday, claims he has “direct personal experience” with the Biden family’s overseas business dealings and was familiar with “the Brand” and the “big guy,” both references to Biden made by his son Hunter and confirmed by fellow business partner Devon Archer.
“His family’s foreign influence peddling operation—from China to Ukraine and elsewhere—sold out to foreign actors who were seeking to gain influence and access to Joe Biden and the United States government,” Bobulinski testified.
Bobulinski’s suit comes a week after Goldman posted another attack on his character.
“Tony Bobulinski has used a Trump campaign-paid lawyer to make false allegations since October 2020,” he wrote on X.
Jesse Binnall, Bobulinski’s attorney, replied in his own letter, “To be clear, as you are well aware given your position, Mr. Bobulinski has not told any lies about his firsthand knowledge of the Biden family,” according to the New York Post.
“Your statement, as though it were a matter of fact, that Mr. Bobulinski has lied to federal investigators, as well as Congress, is defamatory per se and will not be tolerated,” he added. “Further, President Trump’s campaign has never paid Mr. Bobulinski’s legal fees. In fact, Mr. Bobulinski has paid over $500,000, in legal fees to numerous lawyers in law firms out of his own pocket since 2020.”
Rep. Goldman’s post came a week after Bobulinski again testified during President Biden’s impeachment hearing.
“The Biden family business was Joe Biden, period,” Bobulinski told the Oversight Committee. He detailed his work with Hunter Biden while securing a deal with the China-backed CEFC corporation. Since 2020, he has scored President Biden for dismissing the contents of Hunter’s laptop as Russian disinformation and continued to be the most vocal former member of Hunter Biden’s inner business circle.
