Elon Musk officially announced Friday the hiring of Linda Yaccarino, who resigned from her advertising executive post at NBC Universal this morning, as the new chief executive officer of Twitter/X.
“I am excited to welcome Linda Yaccarino as the new CEO of Twitter,” Musk wrote.
“[Linda Yaccarino] will focus primarily on business operations, while I focus on product design & new technology. Looking forward to working with Linda to transform this platform into X, the everything app.”

Rumors of Yaccarino’s hiring began swirling yesterday and intensified Friday morning when she resigned from NBC abruptly.
But Yaccarino’s tenure is already off to a controversial start; after clips showing the former ad executive espousing ‘woke,’ left-wing ideologies surfaced to Twitter, conservatives expressed concern over the then-rumored hiring.
In videos exposed early Friday, Yaccarino touted her efforts to “fight social justice and equity” at Comcast, saying the company “thought they were doing enough” to bring diverse representation to the company, “but clearly we weren’t.”
Yaccarino also has ties to the World Economic Forum.
