Ex-Obama CIA Chief Behind Infamous Hunter Biden Laptop Letter Now Supports Nikki Haley
Former CIA officer Mike Morell, who twice served as acting director of the agency under President Obama, donated $1,000 to former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley’s presidential campaign back in November, according to campaign disclosures.
Morell is best known for playing a key role in crafting an infamous letter that falsely labelled the New York Post’s bombshell story about Hunter Biden’s laptop as “Russian disinformation.” The letter was signed by 51 former intelligence officials and was used as justification for censoring the story on the world’s most popular social media sites.
The “Russian disinformation” narrative, which has been thoroughly debunked, potentially played a massive role in swaying the election for President Biden, polling has consistently found. One poll found that 71 percent of respondents might have changed their views on President Biden if the story was reported accurately.
Last April, Morell told the House Judiciary Committee that he was approached by a “senior official” with the Biden campaign and asked if he would be willing to solicit signatures for the letter. Morell, who was considered for the role of CIA director by President Biden, said he organized the letter to “help Vice President Biden … because I wanted him to win the election.”
The former deputy and acting CIA director identified the “senior official” as current Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.
In a perhaps unsurprising turn of events, Morell now appears to be supporting Nikki Haley’s campaign for president, according to campaign disclosures reviewed by Breitbart News. The two align on a number of policy issues, including increased U.S. involvement in the Middle East and Ukraine.
Democrats supporting Nikki Haley is also nothing new. A CNN exit poll from last month’s New Hampshire primary found that just 27 percent of Haley’s voters were actually Republicans.
