‘Haunting’ Trump Costume Worn By Kirk Assassin Is Revealed
Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old suspect in Charlie Kirk’s assassination, once dressed as President Donald Trump in a Halloween costume that has surfaced following his surrender to authorities late Thursday night.
Robinson, a Utah resident, turned himself in after speaking with his father, a former police officer, and his pastor, Trump announced Friday morning. His identity and mugshot were released during a press conference shortly after, and within minutes, media outlets were combing social media posts to uncover more about his political leanings and possible motivations.
Family photos online show Robinson in 2017 dressed in a Trump-related costume, then one year into his first administration. The discovery was made in the profile of Amber Robinson, his mother, and shows Robinson with a beaming smile as he stands next to his young brother.
Robinson, who was on a scholarship at Utah State University, had become “more political in recent years,” Utah Gov. Spencer Cox announced at a press conference. He revealed that authorities had obtained spent and unspent rifle casings inscribed with online gaming taunts and the lyrics of an anti-Nazi Italian resistance song.
Family members have described speaking with Robinson during a conversation where he “mentioned Charlie Kirk was coming to [Utah Valley University] and mentioned why he didn’t like him,” the Daily Mail reported.
The costume featuring Trump shows Robinson riding the president like a horse. His younger brother stands next to him, dressed in all black with a toy hunting rifle slung around his back.

Authorities recovered a Mauser .30-06 caliber hunting rifle on a rooftop that sits about 200 yards away from where Kirk was speaking on Wednesday when he was shot. A single spent casing matched the bullet that fatally struck the Turning Point USA founder in the neck.
Other messages inscribed on some of the firearm’s shell casings read “Hey Fascists, Catch!” and “‘If You Read This You Are Gay LMAO,” Cox said.
Robinson arrived on the campus of Utah Valley University driving a gray Dodge Challenger. He was dressed in a plain maroon t-shirt, light-colored shorts, a baseball cap, and aviator-style sunglasses, authorities stated.
Cox said Robinson was wearing clothes “consistent” with what was seen in campus footage at the time of his arrest Thursday night.
Other online photos of the Robinson family show members enjoying vacations together, smiling in harmony as a picture-perfect American family. They lived in the city of Washington in a $600,000 six-bedroom house about 260 miles from where Kirk was killed in Orem.
Trump said Friday that he hopes authorities will seek the death penalty for Robinson, and he praised Kirk as a formative conservative influencer for America’s youth.
“Well, I hope he’s going to be found guilty, I would imagine, and I hope he gets the death penalty,” Trump told “Fox & Friends.”
“What he did, Charlie Kirk, he was the finest person that, he didn’t deserve this. He worked so hard and so well, everybody liked him.”
