Hunter Biden’s Lawyers Hilariously Claim Client’s Cocaine Was Actually ‘Sawdust’
The theatrics around Hunter Biden’s prosecution slid into the absurd as his lawyers argued in a recent filing that their client took photographs of sawdust lines on a table, not cocaine.
In a Tuesday court filing, Biden’s attorneys Attorneys Abbe Lowell, Christopher Man, and Bartholomew Dalton claim that federal prosecutors submitted false evidence against him when they cited the photo as evidence that Hunter was an active drug user when he purchased a firearm in 2018.
“The prosecution is flat out wrong—both that Mr. Biden ‘took’ this photograph and in claiming that it depicts ‘cocaine,’” Biden’s attorneys wrote in the brief obtained by the Daily Caller. “Multiple sources have pointed out, and a review of discovery confirms, this is actually a photo of sawdust from an expert carpenter and it was sent to Mr. Biden, not vice versa.”

“More specifically, the discovery identifies this as a photo of a photo taken in the office of Mr. Biden’s then-psychiatrist Dr. Keith Ablow, which Dr. Ablow initially received from [a] master carpenter and later texted to Mr. Biden, stating: ‘This one in my office is of lines of sawdust sent to me by a master carpenter who was a coke addict,’” Biden’s attorneys continued. “The message accompanying that photo was meant to convey that Mr. Biden, too, could overcome any addiction. The prosecution does not provide a date for the photo, but the message from Dr. Ablow is dated November 20, 2018.”
Hunter was indicted in September on three felony gun charges, including allegations that he lied on a purchasing form when he denied being an active drug user at the time. Prosecutors pieced together various pieces of evidence to demonstrate he was lying, including testimony in Hunter’s own memoir claiming he was heavily addicted to crack cocaine that year. In January, prosecutors told the court that traces of cocaine were found on the holster of the Colt Cobra revolver he purchased.
Despite federal prosecution and an ongoing investigation against him by House Republicans, Hunter Biden has demonstrated his knack for theatrical moves in response to the allegations against him. In January he appeared in the front row of a congressional hearing on his family’s business affairs only to storm out as Republicans prepared to call their first witnesses, leading to a media frenzy in the adjacent hallway. Rather than honor a subpoena to testify, Hunter held a dueling press conference where he accused Republicans of leaking naked photos of him to the media. In his gun case, he has demanded that former President Donald Trump be ordered to testify about any lengths he went to interfere with the case.
