“Incredibly Reckless”: DeSantis Skewers Biden Over Latest Scandal
Speaking during a recent news conference in part about the Biden Administration’s latest scandal-the classified documents that found their way into his garage and the University of Pennsylvania’s Biden Center- Florida Governor Ron DeSantis took Biden to task, calling his handling of classified information “incredibly reckless”. Here’s what DeSantis said:
“Look, he said that it was incredibly reckless to have classified — he said all this stuff on ’60 Minutes.’ And now you find out he had them stashed behind his Corvette at his house that Hunter had access to, which is definitely a security risk in my book. And so, I think it just shows you what some of these folks do.“
Continuing, DeSantis connected the Biden documents scandal to the Trump documents situation and the FBI raid on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence, saying “They had all this stuff to say. Now they’re acting like this is something — like it’s not a big deal. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander. You can’t have two different sets of rules based on your political party.”
But we do have a double standard of justice, or “different sets of rules based on your political party,” as Rep. Comer recently pointed out, saying, during a conversation with CNN’s Jake Tapper “We just want equal treatment here with respect to how both former President Trump and current President Biden are being treated with the document issue. The fact that they were quick to call for special counsel with Trump, it seems political here. It seems hypocritical. It seems like a double standard. That’s our concern. I have jurisdiction as chairman of the House Oversight Committee over the National Archives.”
The 60 Minutes segment to which DeSantis referred happened last year, following the FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago. CBS’ Scott Pelley, during the interview, asked Biden “When you saw the photograph of the top-secret documents laid out on the floor at Mar-a-Lago, what did you think to yourself looking at that image?”
Responding, Biden said “How that could possibly happen, how one anyone could be that irresponsible? And I thought what data was in there that may compromise sources and methods. By that, I mean, names of people helped or etcetera.”
The documents scandal wasn’t the only issue that DeSantis blasted Biden on recently. He also used the fury over the Biden Administration’s anti-gas stoves stance to add some humor to a recent speech of his on tax cuts helping Floridians through the inflation crisis, saying:
“I’ve mentioned some of this stuff in the fall about how we’re going to make basically raising kids tax-free. No tax on diapers, wipes, children’s clothes, strollers, cribs, none of that stuff going to be too late for me and my and my wife and our kids, they’re getting the you know, five, four and, and two now but for for younger families be able to do it. It’s going to be really, really important because again, those are things you just have to buy.
“You got to buy the diapers, you got to buy these things. So that’s going to save families a lot of money. You know, we may even say no tax on gas stoves coming up this year won’t do that. That’s fine with me. I want you to be able to have a choice.”
