Governor Kristi Noem isn’t the only pol who has been stretching the truth in their latest book.
Former Biden press secretary and MSNBC host Jen Psaki was cornered into admitting that future copies of her new book, “Say More,” will be edited after critics called out her misleading claims about her boss’s behavior during a ceremony honoring fallen soldiers. Psaki, who served as White House Press Secretary during President Joe Biden’s first year in office, attempted to spin a story about Biden’s watch-checking habit that dogged him after he watched the bodies of fallen Afghanistan service members be unloaded at a military airbase.

Axios, which first reported the claim retraction, noted that Psaki originally wrote “The president looked at his watch only after the ceremony had ended. Moments later, he and the First Lady headed toward their car.” As former President Donald Trump and his supporters have noted for years, Biden was seen by Gold Star family members checking his watch during the ceremony, meaning Psaki’s misrepresentation is another instance of the president’s current or former staff carrying his water in a tough reelection battle.
Despite claiming that critics armed with “misinformation” were falsely trying to make “him appear insensitive, concerned only about how much time had passed,” Psaki initially declined to comment about the outlet’s report. Once it was published, she said the “detail in a few lines of the book about the exact number of times he looked at his watch will be removed in future reprints and the ebook.” She added: “The story on Afghanistan is really about the importance of delivering feedback even when it is difficult told through my own experience of telling President Biden that his own story of loss was not well received by the families who were grieving their sons and daughters.”
Participants in the ceremony, including Mark Schmitz, the father of Marine Lance Cpl. Jared Schmitz, have sharply berated Biden for looking at his watch at least twice about 10 minutes apart. He told Congress in August of 2023 that “while I stood there on the tarmac watching you check your watch over and over again, all I wanted to do was shout out, ‘It’s two f****** thirty, ass****.’ ”
One day after the ceremony, Shana Chappell, the mother of Marine Lance Cpl. Kareem Nikoui, wrote on Facebook: “I watched you disrespect us all 5 different times by checking your watch!!! What the f*** was so important that you had to keep looking at your watch????”
As a de facto Biden surrogate on the liberal news network, Psaki hasn’t been shy about sharing recommendations her former boss should heed if he wants to keep his job. The White House needs to get control over the “damage” Hunter Biden is doing with his criminal trials, she said in December, and just months earlier falsely claimed that no elected Democrat supports abortion up until birth. With less than six months to go until Election Day, new polling shows Biden trailing Trump in nearly every battleground state.
