JUST IN: Trump Reveals His One Condition After Iran Requests Ceasefire

President Donald Trump said Wednesday that Iran’s president has reached out seeking a ceasefire, but made clear the U.S. isn’t ready to bite just yet.

Trump said any deal hinges on the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

“Iran’s New Regime President, much less Radicalized and far more intelligent than his predecessors, has just asked the United States of America for a CEASEFIRE! We will consider when Hormuz Strait is open, free, and clear,” he wrote. “Until then, we are blasting Iran into oblivion or, as they say, back to the Stone Ages!!! President DJT”

The post dropped before Trump is expected to deliver what the White House called an “important update on Iran” in a nationally televised address scheduled for 9 p.m. ET.

REPORT: U.S. Ally Pushes For Military Alliance To Open Hormuz Strait

The conflict, which erupted Feb. 28 when U.S. and Israeli forces launched coordinated strikes on Iran, has rattled global markets and sent energy prices swinging.

At the center of the chaos is the Strait of Hormuz, a narrow but critical chokepoint for a massive share of the world’s oil supply. Iran’s ability to disrupt traffic there has kept pressure on global shipping and energy flows.

Even as tensions drag on, Trump and top administration officials have insisted Iran’s military has been “obliterated” and say U.S. objectives are being met, but the ongoing standoff over Hormuz remains the biggest hurdle to winding the war down.
