LOL: Even CNN Admits Liz Cheney is in a World of Trouble
CNN’s Harry Enten finally admitted the obvious about Liz Cheney, the RINO from Wyoming that has bizarrely dedicated what will likely be the last days of her political career to working with Democrats to smear Trump.
What did he admit? That, popular as Liz Cheney might be with Democrats because she is using her power to attack the Donald rather than the leftists her constituents elected her to go after, she’s not at all popular with those constituents that she betrayed. In Enten’s words:
Rep. Liz Cheney has become an unexpected hero for Democrats. She was one of the few Republicans to vote to impeach President Donald Trump last year, has served as one of his most vocal critics in the GOP and is the vice chair of the House select committee investigating the January 6, 2021, insurrection at the US Capitol.
But we shouldn’t mistake adoring press coverage and bipartisan bona fides for popularity in the place where popularity matters most for Cheney: Wyoming
Indeed, as it’s in Wyoming where she’ll either be given whatever the Congressional equivalent of a pink slip is or, much less likely, reelected and given another opportunity to betray her constituents and spend her time in DC attacking Republicans rather than leftists.
The former seems much more likely than the latter because, as CNN goes on to note:
Cheney sported a 72% disapproval rating in the late 2021 edition of the survey, which was fielded about 10 months after she voted to impeach Trump. That was up nearly 40 points from her 26% disapproval rating in the late 2020 version
After going on to note that Cheney’s anti-Trump decisions and statement, involvement with the January 6th kangaroo court, and bizarre appeals to Wyoming Democrats aren’t signs that she’ll do well with Wyoming voters in November, with the fact that Hageman has brought in nearly twice the amount of money from Wyoming donors as Cheney, Enten wraps up his argument about Cheney, saying:
In sum, the statistics are daunting for Cheney heading into her August primary. It’s no wonder that the betting markets give her less than a 10% chance of earning another term in office.
That doesn’t mean Cheney can’t win. It would just be quite surprising.
That’s significant, as it’s essentially an admission of defeat from CNN: that outlet has done all it can to take down and smear the good name of the “bad orange man”, including fawning over Liz Cheney, at least up until now.
But now it’s reversing course and retreating, admitting that no one other than a few DC types are big fans of Liz Cheney and that, though she’s done all the left wants (or perhaps because of that), she’s incredibly unpopular with the people she should be thinking about: her constituents.
And so it looks like nasty Liz Cheney will lose come November, a result which can come none too soon for those sickened by her craven Jan. 6th Committee performance.
