Marco Rubio Makes Dem Rep. Storm Out Of Hearing (VIDEO)

Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove appeared to storm out of a congressional hearing Wednesday after a tense clash with Secretary of State Marco Rubio over Venezuelan oil revenue under Trump administration control.

The California Democrat accused Rubio of dodging questions about what she described as a secretive financial arrangement involving offshore accounts and Venezuelan oil money.

The heated exchange came after the Trump administration’s January military operation to kidnap Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, which was followed by a U.S. takeover of the country.

Rubio later said the United States would “retain control” of Venezuela’s oil revenue, prompting Democrats to demand an audit of the money and where it was going.

Kamlager-Dove, visibly frustrated, referred to Rubio as the new “overlord” of Venezuela and accused him of failing to provide “real transparency about where the money is going and who is benefiting.”

The lawmaker pressed Rubio on who was overseeing the oil revenue, who was benefiting from it and whether any corruption was taking place.

“It is about credibility, and your credibility meter is on empty right now,” Kamlager-Dove said after several minutes of back and forth with Rubio. “This oil, who determines the barrels of oil that get sold, how many of them, at what price does it get sold, where is it going? The onus is on you to prove that there is no corruption happening.”

Rubio pushed back, complaining that he could not answer while she continued talking.

“if you don’t let me talk,” Rubio said.

Kamlager-Dove then asked Rubio to commit to returning to the committee with the person monitoring the oil sales and to “show the receipts.”

Rubio did not make that commitment and instead asked whether he could “reclaim my time.”

“You don’t have this time yet!” Kamlager-Dove fired back. “We are five months into this and no audits — zero visibility into the contracts that are awarded, zero transparency about where the money is going!”

Rep. Brian Mast of Florida, the Republican chairman of the committee, then cut her off, saying, “fortunately, representative’s time has expired.”

Kamlager-Dove kept going anyway.

“Giving contracts with no transparency is exactly the reason why you shut down USAID, so practice what you preach!” she shouted.

Rubio, clearly irritated by the spectacle, fired back at the committee chaos.

“Oh, she gets to scream now, too?” Rubio said. “God, what kind of thing is this, what is this? You get asked questions for five minutes and you don’t get time to answer? It’s not a hearing, it’s like a dunk tank.”

Kamlager-Dove then appeared to leave the hearing room, prompting Rubio to call out after her.

“why is she leaving, I’m going to answer her questions!” Rubio said.

The congresswoman could be heard shouting something back as she walked away.

Rubio responded with a sarcastic sendoff.

“okay, I got it – well, thank you for coming.”

The exchange quickly became another flashpoint in the fight over the Trump administration’s handling of Venezuela, with Democrats demanding answers over oil revenue and Republicans accusing them of turning hearings into political theater.

For Marco Rubio, the moment showed the frustration of being grilled and interrupted before he could answer. For Kamlager-Dove, it was a chance to accuse the administration of secrecy over one of the most sensitive foreign policy fights on Capitol Hill.

Either way, the hearing ended with fireworks, a walkout and Rubio making clear he was not about to sit quietly while Democrats tried to turn the room into what he called a “dunk tank.”
