Michelle Obama’s Answer To Interview Prompt Leaves Americans Fuming
Former first lady Michelle Obama sparked fresh backlash from conservatives after summing up the next chapter of her life with one word: herself.
The moment came during a joint “Good Morning America” interview with former President Barack Obama at the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago.
ABC co-anchor Robin Roberts asked the former first couple to describe their next chapter in one word during a lighthearted segment about life after the White House.
Barack Obama answered first.
“Fun,” he said.
Michelle Obama followed with a response that quickly lit up conservative social media.
“Me,” Michelle Obama said.
Roberts praised the answer.
“That’s what you call drop the mic,” Roberts said.
Barack Obama then joked that Roberts appeared to be grading his wife more generously.
“You seem to be grading her higher on her answers,” he said.
The clip quickly made the rounds on X, where critics accused the former first lady of sounding self-absorbed at a time when the Obama brand is once again being placed front and center in Chicago.

Spectator contributing editor Stephen Miller, who posts under the handle @redsteeze, reacted bluntly to the exchange.
“Man, she really hates him,” Miller said.
Commentator and TV personality Danny De Urbina also ripped Michelle Obama’s answer, accusing her of being consumed with herself.
“So, in case you didn’t know this… Michelle Obama thinks about herself a lot,” De Urbina said.
De Urbina went further, tying the moment to what he described as a broader cultural problem among elites.
“So much of a person’s intelligence can be measured by the degree they are able to think about the world around them instead of themselves,” De Urbina said. “This is the precise narcissism that has plagued our culturally suicidal ruling class for decades.”
The interview was meant to spotlight the Obama Presidential Center, a 19.3-acre campus on Chicago’s South Side that includes a museum, public spaces and a replica of the Oval Office.

Barack Obama framed the project as a tribute to the country that made his rise possible.
“As a consequence, a little girl born on the South Side of Chicago and some mixed kid, you know, born in the middle of the Pacific Ocean in Hawaii, you know, could end up being part of the process of building and making better the greatest country on Earth,” Barack Obama said.
The Obama Foundation said the center’s grand opening ceremony was scheduled for June 18, with the campus and museum opening to the public June 19.

Opening weekend events are set to continue through June 21.
The interview served as a promotional stop for the new center, but Michelle Obama’s one-word answer became the viral takeaway for many conservatives.
For critics, the exchange was another glimpse of the celebrity-style politics that has followed the Obamas since they left the White House.
And for Americans already tired of being lectured by political elites, “me” was all they needed to hear.
