NBC Crew Visibly Stunned On Live TV as Biden Gets More Bad News
NBC’s Steve Kornacki and Meet The Press host Kristen Welker reacted to yet another poll spelling bad news for President Biden ahead of the 2024 election.
“We talk about the erosion for Biden and now you start to see it. Look at these numbers,” Kornacki said while reacting to the latest survey. Trump held advantages when respondents were asked about a number of key traits and issues, including dealing with inflation and the economy, to which 52 percent of respondents selected former President Trump. Just 40 percent selected President Biden, representing a 22-point swing towards Trump.
President Trump also received great marks when respondents were asked about necessary mental and physical health. 45 percent of respondents said they felt more comfortable with Trump’s cognitive ability when compared with Biden, who received support from just 20 percent of respondents.
When asked which candidate was the most “competent and effective,” 47 percent of respondents selected Trump while 36 percent selected Biden. “And we actually polled this question in 2020 and it was basically the exact opposite. It was Biden with about a 10-point advantage over Trump,” Kornacki noted, drawing a “wow” from Welker.
“And again, same with handling a crisis. Biden had the edge over Trump. And how about this? It’s the former president, the current president. We don’t really see matchups like this. Well, now we can measure it,” Kornacki continued.
Voters once again selected Trump when asked which candidate has a better record as president, another reversal from 2020. “And again, Trump outpacing Biden on that front. And again, you’ve got to mention this one too. Necessary mental and physical health. We asked this four years ago. It was a wash. It’s now a clear liability for Joe Biden,” Kornacki told viewers.
“So these are all troubling numbers for Biden.”
Polling has consistently found that voters have concerns over Biden’s mental fitness and object to his handling of the economy. This has persisted even as the overall head-to-head matchup between Trump and Biden has narrowed in recent weeks following a massive spending blitz from Biden.
The Biden campaign appears to have acknowledged their electoral disadvantages by focusing on “Bidenomics.” Biden’s economic advisors have repeatedly claimed that Biden has “the world’s strongest economic” record despite consistent polling showing dissatisfaction with inflation and the economy as a whole.
The campaign now appears to be addressing concerns over Biden’s mental fitness, as evidenced by a new campaign ad that claims the president is “sharp as a knife.”
