‘Never Trump’ Governor CAVES, Admits He’ll Vote For Trump Over Biden

Tara Palmeri sat down with New Hampshire’s typically ‘never-Trump’ Governor Chris Sununu, who has made no mystery of his open disdain for former President Donald J. Trump, and asked if it “comes down to Trump or Biden,” who will he choose? Sununu replied, “I’m a Republican.”

The fallout from the interview with Puck has been spreading across the media since early Tuesday. NH Journal noted, that Sununu reiterated his stance that while New Hampshire is in play for the 2024 GOP Primary, he believes “It’s more likely than not that Trump is the nominee,” though he added, “it’s not an absolute.”

The Governor suggested that a consolidation of Trump’s detractors would be necessary to dislodge Trump from his lofty perch, though this seems unlikely given Trump’s current polling lead, according to Morning Consult as of 11/28, a near unassailable lead of 50 points.

Were the other Republican hopefuls to fold behind current runner-up Florida Governor Ron DeSantis they could realistically expect to poll at about 35-40% to Trump’s 64%.

“If you get to Super Tuesday and Trump runs the table, it’s over,” Sununu claimed. “But if you get to Super Tuesday and Haley or an alternative candidate is winning three or four states, then the whole paradigm changes. Now it becomes a one-on-one race.”

He added that he believes Trump’s support among engaged voters following the race in the early states is less than the 61% he’s seen in national polls and is closer to 40% according to NH Journal. However, the outlet did not cite his basis for this claim.

“Let’s say Ron DeSantis is the one, or Chris Christie is the one who [breaks] out by Super Tuesday. Trump can have his 40 percent. Someone else will have 60,” Sununu continued. “Trump has a ceiling. He has a floor, but he also has a ceiling — one that is fairly low for a former president.”

“If it becomes a one-on-one race, now he’s in trouble,” Sununu told Palmieri.

Crucially, Sununu told the Puck podcast host that in his view, Democrats are likely to ditch incumbent President Joe Biden before they’ll let him lose 2024. “Biden has become so bad, even Trump can beat him,” he said.

Sununu was seen at events for former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, fmr. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and DeSantis at different events Wednesday. He posted to X, “A busy week on the campaign trail criss-crossing New Hampshire with @NikkiHaley, @GovChristie, and @RonDeSantis. The First in the Nation Presidential Primary is going strong!”
