New Florida Poll Delivers Fantastic News For DeSantis, Rubio; Crist, Demings Will Cry Themselves To Sleep

Well, the governor’s race in the state of Florida, where incumbent Republican Ron DeSantis is taking on Democratic Party candidate Charlie Crist, is looking more and more like a blowout in favor of the former, at least according to a new poll from the University of North Florida.

Fox News is reporting that DeSantis is currently enjoying the support of 55 percent of registered voters in the state, while Crist is only pulling in 41 percent, according to a UNF Public Opinion Research Lab (PORL) poll.

“Approximately 4% of those surveyed did not have a preference or refused to answer, while less than 1% of those polled planned to vote for a third party, the report continued.

“Given DeSantis’ historic fundraising and popularity among Republicans, his lead in this race is not surprising,” Dr. Michael Binder, PORL faculty director, went on to say in a press release. “The surprise in these numbers is that a statewide race in Florida is closer to a blowout than a recount.”

“Regarding the senatorial race, 54% of respondents indicated they would vote for Sen. Marco Rubio, against 43% of respondents who favored Democratic candidate Rep. Val Demings,” Fox News said.

Only around three percent of those who responded to the survey refused to provide an answer.

Fox News’ Power Rankings have the race going down between DeSantis and Crist as “likely Republican” when it comes to the results, with the senatorial race “leaning Republican.”

The general election to determine the winner of the gubernatorial race is set for November 8.

The survey was of 622 registered voters and took place between Oct. 17-22 and features a margin of error plus or minus 4.7 percent.

Results like this are extremely informative. People in the state of Florida clearly recognize solid leadership when they see it. And that’s what they have received from DeSantis over the course of the last several years. His handling of the coronavirus pandemic, refusing to give in to the tyranny of the federal government and exercising the 10th Amendment to keep them firmly in their place, is exactly what a good leader would do in his position.

It’s sad we’ve not seen this kind of backbone in so long. This should be the norm.

Earlier in the week, DeSantis and Crist debated the main issues concerning Florida voters, each trading verbal jabs as the night progressed.

One of the issues the two discussed involved rising insurance prices and high rent costs.

“Housing is an incredible issue. We have a housing crisis in our state. Good luck buying a home, good luck renting an apartment.” Crist stated during the debate, according to Spectrum News. “That is because Governor DeSantis has taken his eye off the ball. He’s focused on running for president in 2024, and as a result, we have lost things in our state budget, specifically, the housing trust fund that has hundreds of millions of dollars that he and the legislature have cut, I would restore it.”

“You said that people are flocking to Florida, that would not have happened if Charlie Crist had his way. He wrote me a letter in 2020 saying that you need to shut down the state of Florida, you need to have people shelter in their own homes.” DeSantis fired back. “That would have destroyed the state of Florida, that would have caused our tourism industry to go in the toilet, it would have locked out millions of kids from school. I rejected Charlie Crist’s lockdown letter, I kept this state open, and I kept this state free.”

Here’s to hoping Fox News is right and both these races go red.
