A member of the British Royal Family was rushed into emergency services Sunday night after a bizarre fall inside her country estate, Buckingham Palace announced Monday.

In a statement to Fox News, the Palace confirmed that Princess Anne, the 73-year-old sister of King Charles III, suffered a concussion after taking a spill in her Gatcombe Park estate. The royal relative lives roughly two and a half hours west of Buckingham Palace.

“Her Royal Highness remains in Southmead Hospital, Bristol, as a precautionary measure for observation,” Buckingham Palace said in a statement, adding that “The King has been kept closely informed and joins the whole royal family in sending his fondest love and well-wishes to The Princess for a speedy recovery.”

Additional details about what occurred remain murky. So far, family representatives have only said that Princess Anne was walking within the protected confines of her estate when the accident befell her. The Associated Press added that the injuries suffered by Anne seem consistent with an impact from a horse’s head or legs. However, the exact cause of the injuries has not been confirmed.

As a result, some of Princess Anne’s scheduling will be adjusted. Buckingham Palace confirmed that the sister of King Charles would miss a state dinner honoring Naruhito, the emperor of Japan.

To date, 2024 has been an extremely unfortunate year for the Royal Family. Princess Kate, the brightest star of the family who commands a fan following around the globe, has been valiantly battling a type of cancer and reassured denizens that she is making progress in her treatment. Similarly, King Charles is suffering from another form of cancer and has told aides and family members that he must now rush to cement his legacy on the crown, fearing his end is near after reigning for less than two years. Princess Beatrice, daughter to Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, was surprised by revelations that her ex-partner Paolo Liuzzo was found dead in a Miami hotel room back in February. In March, an investigation into the death of Thomas Kingston, husband to Lady Gabriella, tragically took his own life.

Sources close to the family say the relentless string of unfortunate events may forever alter the trajectory of the royals. Earlier this month an insider told Us Weekly, “Kate’s feeling strong enough to be very involved with the kids. She’s been an active parent.” A second source added, “Kate’s recovery is going well. She’s not able to see many people because she is susceptible to getting sick and they don’t want her compromised, but she’s up and about.”

Kate’s team is currently assessing her future commitments, as they stated, “reevaluating what she’s going to be able to take on when she comes back.” The source added, “She may never come back in the role that people saw her in before.”
