NEW: Trump Gets Ultimate Payback, Revokes Biden’s Security Clearance
President Donald Trump announced Friday that he will be revoking former President Biden’s security clearance and be putting an end to his predecessor’s daily intelligence briefings.
“There is no need for Joe Biden to continue receiving access to classified information. Therefore, we are immediately revoking Joe Biden’s Security Clearances, and stopping his daily Intelligence Briefings,” the president wrote in a Truth Social post. Trump went on to note that Biden previously moved to block then-candidate Trump from receiving his own intelligence briefings during his bid to return to the White House.
“He set this precedent in 2021, when he instructed the Intelligence Community (IC) to stop the 45th President of the United States (ME!) from accessing details on National Security, a courtesy provided to former Presidents,” the post continued.
The commander-in-chief went on to cite the damning report from Special Counsel Robert Hur, who reported at length about former President Biden’s clear display of cognitive decline and memory loss when he sat for an interview with him last year. Hur, who was assigned to investigate Biden’s mishandling of classified documents, opted not to bring charges after arguing that a jury would essentially view then-President Biden as a forgetful old man who could not be held criminally liable.
“The Hur Report revealed that Biden suffers from ‘poor memory’ and, even in his ‘prime,’ could not be trusted with sensitive information. I will always protect our National Security,” Trump continued, concluding the post with; “JOE, YOU’RE FIRED. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
Trump’s decision to restrict his predecessor’s access to intelligence briefings comes nearly four years after Biden made the same move against Trump, citing his “erratic behavior” before and after the January 6 Capitol protests. The move marked the first time a former president had been cut off from intelligence briefings, which are generally given as a courtesy in the event that the current officeholder would want to consult one of his predecessors for advice. Currently, the briefings are offered to former Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barrack Obama.
While speaking with CBS News’ Norah O’Donnell in February 2021, Biden falsely labeled the January 6 Capitol protests as an “insurrection” and claimed that his decision was related to Trump’s “erratic behavior” unrelated to the protests. “I just think that there is no need for him to have the intelligence briefings,” Biden said at the time.
“What value is giving him an intelligence briefing?” he added. “What impact does he have at all, other than the fact he might slip and say something?”
Since taking office last month, the Trump Administration has moved to remove security clearances from a number of military and intelligence officers who participated in politically-motivated attacks on President Trump. In a memo issued “on behalf of the president,” security clearances were pulled from 51 former intelligence officers who signed a bogus letter claiming that the infamous laptop belonging to Hunter Biden contained “hallmarks of a Russian disinformation operation.”
The thoroughly debunked claim was advanced by former Secretary of State Antony Blinken in order to distract from the laptop’s contents, which outlined foreign business deals that may have involved former President Biden. In addition to the revocation of security clearances, all named intelligence officers, including former CIA Director John Brennan and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, were banned from all secure U.S. federal buildings.
Trump also pulled the security detail assigned to former Joint Chiefs Chairman General Mark Milley, who has been accused of committing “treason” for actions undertaken towards the end of Trump’s first term in the White House. Milley has openly bragged about communicating with the Chinese Communist Party in order to pledge not to follow orders to attack the nation if ordered by Trump, who never indicated that he was planning such a move.
