“Not Welcome” in the Sunshine State: DeSantis’ Office Destroys Woke League for Discriminatory, Anti-White Summit

Apparently, it’s not just the NFL and NBA that have gone completely woke in the wake of Kaepernick’s self-centered protests of “racism” and the police and the George Floyd “summer of love” that involved setting lots of businesses on fire while woke whites self-flagellated. Based on what was posted by the NHL recently, it looks like that league has gone woke in all the worst ways too.

That’s because, in a recent post about a job and career summit it is hosting in Miami, the league essentially invited anyone except for straight white men to apply, saying that applicants “must” be from one of a selection of minority or otherwise aggrieved groups.

That was posted to LinkedIn (and has since been deleted) and began by saying, the Daily Wire reports:

“The NHL is proud to announce its first-ever Pathway to Hockey Summit launching during our 2023 All Star festivities in South Florida! The Pathway to Hockey Summit is a career event for diverse job seekers who are pursuing careers in hockey. The day will be filled with guest speakers and panelists, networking opportunities, and more!”

It was there that the statement went off the rails and went from being a normal announcement of a career summit to a woke gathering meant to exclude straight white men, with the posting then saying, again according to the Daily Wire:

“If you are looking for your opportunity to meet with recruiters from the NHL League Office and at least 10 of our NHL teams, we welcome you to register. Participants must be 18 years of age or older, based in the U.S., and identify as female, Black, Asian/Pacific Islander, Hispanic/Latino, Indigenous, LGBTQIA+, and/or a person with a disability. Veterans are also welcome and encouraged to attend.”

Well, while many RINOs would have just ignored the statement and many Democrats would have cheered it, the NHL made the mistake of hosting this event in Miami, and so the office of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis got involved and it wasn’t happy with the NHL in the least.

In fact, Governor DeSantis’ spokesman, Bryan Griffin, tore into the NHL for the obviously discriminatory statement and called on the league to withdraw it, saying:

“Discrimination of any sort is not welcome in the state of Florida, and we do not abide by the woke notion that discrimination should be overlooked if applied in a politically popular manner or against a politically unpopular demographic. We are fighting all discrimination in our schools and our workplaces, and we will fight it in publicly accessible places of meeting or activity.”

Continuing, the statement then said, “We call upon the National Hockey League to immediately remove and denounce the discriminatory prohibitions it has imposed on attendance to the 2023 ‘Pathway to Hockey’ summit.”

Given that the NHL has since deleted the LinkedIn post, it looks like they took DeSantis’ demands as more than bluster and might be rethinking the anti-white summit, or at least where they’re going to host it.
