NEW: Hunter Biden Prosecutor Pushed For Prison Time For Another Tax Offender

The Daily Caller reported that the same federal prosecutor in the Hunter Biden investigation, Assistant U.S. Attorney Leo Wise, who argued in favor of the plea deal of the president’s son over tax evasion charges, prosecuted a similar tax case in 2018 that ended with the accused serving jail time. The sweetheart nature of the Hunter plea deal was admitted in court by Mr. Wise.

When the judge asked Attorney Wise “if you have any precedent for agreeing not to prosecute crimes that have nothing to do with the case or the charges being diverted”, Mr. Wise admitted, “I’m not aware of any, Your Honor.” In effect, Mr. Wise revealed that he was not aware of any other person in Hunter’s position being given such a favorable deal.

Techno Fog, an online sobriquet of a lawyer, commented that “the Hunter Biden deal just isn’t a departure for the DOJ – It is out of character for these public corruption prosecutors who earned their reputation as being tough on even minor offenders. And the comparison of the 2018 case to Hunter’s case proves the point.”

On that issue, Fog elaborated that the two prosecuting lawyers, Wise and Hines, have a reputation as  “prosecutorial terminators.” They are described as hardliners who “pursue stern sentences and prosecute even small-time crooks.” Their reputation comes from bringing some of the biggest public corruption cases in Maryland history.”

As such the extraordinary leniency shown to the president’s son is out of character for them.  This is especially so given that their response aforementioned 2018 tax evasion case, which was “less egregious” than Hunter’s, was to demand “12 months” of jail time for the defendant.

Techno Fog further elaborated that “In 2018, these prosecutors charged a defendant with failing to file/pay taxes (26 USC 7203) – the same charges brought against Hunter Biden. The 2018 defendant only owed $60K. But Wise and Hines demanded 1 year in jail. (He got 10 months).”
Hunter’s tax evasion (that they charged him for) for reference amounted to “between $1.2 million and $1.6 million” yet as Fog observes the prosecutors only demanded that the president’s son “receive probation.”
Techno Fog also pointed out that Hunter Biden’s prosecutors missed charging the president’s son with “an easily provable felony (26 USC 7206, also not charged)” and even excuse this conduct by Hunter  “as a mere mistake.” Such deference to the defendant “as not seen in these prosecutors’ similar 2018 tax case.”
