A new film set to follow the life of a young Donald J. Trump announced casting decisions for the roles of Trump and his first wife, the late Ivana Trump. The biopic entitled ‘The Apprentice’ by Iranian filmmaker Ali Abbasi will reportedly highlight Trump’s life in the 1970s and 80s as he built upon the real-estate empire left to him by his father.

According to Deadline, the film is a “mentor-protege story that charts the origins of a major American dynasty.” The outlet adds that the story is filled “with larger-than-life characters,” and will reveal “the moral and human cost of a culture defined by winners and losers,” citing the film’s synopsis.

Sebastian Stan, known for previous roles as Bucky Barnes, aka ‘The Winter Soldier’ in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has been cast to portray Donald Trump while Maria Bakalova, who costarred in ‘Borat Subsequent Moviefilm’ has been cast as Ivana. The outlet noted that the lead writer for the upcoming film is Gabriel Sherman, the author of The Loudest Voice in the Room, which inspired Showtime’s The Loudest Voice centered around Fox News founder Roger Ailes.

As previously reported by Trending Politics, Ivana Trump passed away in her New York home in February.

According to CNN, attorney Roy Cohn, a lawyer Trump reportedly considered a mentor will be portrayed by Jeremy Strong. Cohn was known historically for prosecuting the trial of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, who were convicted and executed as Soviet spies. He would later play a major role in the Anti-communist investigations and hearings of Sen. Joseph McCarthy in the 1950s and his successful thirty-year career as a prominent New York City attorney.

Cohn, though registered as a Democrat, supported many Republicans politically and reportedly introduced Trump to Roger Stone during the 1980 presidential campaign of President Ronald Reagan.

The film’s director, Abbasi is an outspoken critic of the Iranian government under Ayatollah Khamenei and current President Ebrahim Raisi. Abbasi gained acclaim for his film Holy Spider, which depicted the true story of Iranian serial killer Saeed Hanaei, who murdered 16 women in 2000-2001.

As of this report, former President Trump has not made a statement regarding the casting of his younger self or his former wife.
