REPORT: US-Israeli Strikes Liquidate Top Iranian Commander
A senior Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps naval commander was reported killed as U.S. and Israeli warplanes kept up overnight strikes across Iran, hitting targets from the strategic port city of Bandar Abbas to the capital.
Iranian-linked outlets identified the officer as Gholamreza Mohammadzadeh, describing him as a high-ranking IRGC naval figure. The claims could not be independently verified, and Iranian authorities have not released a detailed public accounting of senior casualties as the regime’s command structure takes repeated hits.
The reported strike in Bandar Abbas is significant. The city anchors Iran’s military logistics on the Persian Gulf and sits near key shipping lanes that Tehran has repeatedly threatened to choke. With the Islamic Republic’s navy already under pressure, any loss of senior leadership would further weaken its ability to coordinate maritime harassment operations and threaten commercial traffic.

In a separate development, reports said the U.S.-Israeli coalition carried out overnight strikes on Mehrabad Airport in Tehran. Accounts circulating online indicated at least one aircraft was destroyed or badly damaged in the attack, as explosions were reported around the airport complex. The claims have not been confirmed by independent U.S. or Israeli briefings, and Iran has not provided a clear public damage assessment.

Additional footage shared online appeared to show a strike hitting a cyber police building in Hamadan in western Iran. Other clips purportedly showed strikes on Basij personnel as they were assembled in formation. Those videos, while hard to verify in real time, reflect the broader direction of the campaign: targeting the military and internal-security organs the regime relies on to project power abroad and enforce control at home.
Taken together, the reports point to an operation aimed at crippling Iran’s ability to operate across air and sea while decapitating senior leadership. That pressure comes as Tehran struggles to steady its chain of command and keep its forces organized under sustained attacks.
