Singer Lizzo Gets Roasted For Ridiculous Met Gala Dress

Singer Lizzo prompted widespread mockery on the internet for showing up to the 2024 Met Gala in a dress she could barely walk in with a headpiece that looked like a wastebasket.

A red carpet opening to the gala prompts the annual tradition of celebrities and high net worth individuals donning a dazzling intaglio of dresses, suits, and outfits that defy categories. In Lizzo’s case, the clout-chasing hoopla nearly resulted in a face plant. Barstool Sports posted a clip of the plus-size singer being helped up the Met’s steps by two aides. “Dudes see this and all they can think about is crumpling up a piece of paper and shooting it at Lizzo’s dome,” they wrote.

As the Western Journal put it, the “Truth Hurts” artist “couldn’t conquer a flight of stairs” in her dress — if you could call it that.

Entertainment Tonight shilled for the singer, writing on X, “Only Lizzo can pull off this look at #MetGala.” Their followers said otherwise.

“Not really, she can hardly walk. Who is running this account?” one wrote. Another chimed in, “No. No she can’t.
She literally can pull herself up those stairs either.”

In an absurd contrast with how cumbersome her dress was on the night, rapper Cardi B managed to pull off a dress so long it took nine men to carry its train.

Unfortunately, Lizzo wasn’t able to take advantage of the strapping young men helping slimmer women conquer the stairs. South African singer-songwriter Tyla was literally picked up by one aide after she became stuck halfway up the steps.

In March, Lizzo wrote “I quit” on social media after receiving fierce blowback for headlining a fundraiser for the Democratic National Committee.

“I’m getting tired of putting up with being dragged by everyone in my life and on the internet,” the “Good as Hell” singer wrote on Instagram. “All I want is to make music and make people happy and help the world be a little better than how I found it. But I’m starting to feel like the world doesn’t want me in it. Being the butt of the joke every single time because of how I look … My character being picked apart by people who don’t know me and disrespecting my name. I didn’t sign up for this s—. I QUIT.”

Republicans like Congressman Matt Gaetz (R-FL) have previously targeted Lizzo for her leftwing views. After Bud Light nearly folded over its social media partnership with a transgender influencer, he mocked the company’s apology for previously running ads of thin women in bikinis. “No one wants to buy a beer from Lizzo,” he joked.
