Ted Cruz Unleashes on Fauci, Says He Will Be Responsible for Future Deaths

Ted Cruz has alleged that Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases during the pandemic (NIAID), lied to Congress about the funding of gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) in China. Gain-of-function research involves modifying viruses to make them more transmissible or virulent to study their potential effects on humans.

On his podcast “Verdict with Ted Cruz” Cruz discussed that the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) granted funding to the EcoHealth Alliance, which in turn funded research at the WIV (Wuhan Institute of Virology). They allege that this funding contributed to the creation of SARS-CoV-2, the virus responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I have asked Attorney General Merrick Garland whether he intended to prosecute Fauci and he dodges those questions, he refuses to answer those questions,” Cruz stated. “I’ve asked the FBI, they dodge those questions. Look, Fauci flat out told Congress under oath that the federal government was not funding gain of function research at the Wuhan Institute for Virology. … NIH, in writing, confirmed that they were funding gain of function research.”

During the episode titled, “Fauci Lied, Millions Died-Bombshell Report Confirms Covid Came From A Chinese Lab,” the Republican Senator, accused Dr. Fauci of lying to Congress in a July 2021 hearing when he denied that the NIH funded gain-of-function research at the WIV. However, Dr. Fauci has denied this claim, stating that the research conducted with NIH funding did not meet the criteria for gain-of-function research. The exact origins of SARS-CoV-2 are still under investigation.

Cruz continued, “If the entire COVID pandemic is the result of manmade changes to a virus to make it more dangerous to people, that is, number one, a powerful warning to stop screwing around and creating the next horrific pandemic that could result in a much, much higher death toll and potentially millions and millions dead, but number two, it goes straight to the culpability of the Chinese Communist government. … One of the most damning facts is that we know the Chinese lab destroy their samples immediately after the pandemic happened.”

Cruz’s claims have been met with criticism from Democratic senators and the scientific community, who argue that the evidence is circumstantial and that more investigation is needed to determine the origins of the virus.

“Now, in the criminal justice system, if you destroy evidence, frequently, a court or a jury can draw an inference that you are destroying evidence, because it implicates you in guilt,” Cruz explained. “Destroying evidence, once you know that evidence could be relevant, demonstrates a guilty conscience that you’re trying to hide something.”

The report’s release comes amid ongoing controversy over the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic and the origins of the virus. Some have accused China of not being transparent about the early stages of the outbreak, while others have criticized the U.S. government’s response to the pandemic.

The debate continues as the world continues to grapple with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the ambiguous origin of the disease.
