Tim Allen Could Be BACK To Save Woke Disney In ‘Toy Story 5’
In a recent appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” beloved actor Tim Allen revealed that Disney has approached him and co-star Tom Hanks to reprise their legendary roles in a potential “Toy Story 5.”
This news comes as a breath of fresh air, especially at a time when many believe that Disney’s content has become overly influenced by modern woke culture.
Jimmy Fallon asked, “Also [I] read somewhere, you don’t have to say if it’s true or not, but I would love it if you did it… is there a Toy Story 5?”
“Bob Iger, head of Disney, said it was on. He actually said that it was going to happen,” Allen said. “They have reached out to Tom and I to do the reprise of the roles. They’re not saying anything about it.”
“You wonder if four was too many, is five going to be too much?… So it could be a very very interesting way to reunite it. I would love to see it,” Allen finished.
While discussing his series “The Santa Clauses” on Disney Plus, Allen also touched on how the show hopes to answer longstanding questions from the original movie as well.
Disney has been in the thick of it lately. Their new woke Hollywood films have flopped over this Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
Disney’s “Wish,” with a staggering $200 million budget, managed to earn only $8.3 million on its opening day, projecting a modest five-day total of just over $37 million according to Variety. The underwhelming performance is not just a financial disappointment but also signifies a deeper creative crisis for a studio that was once considered unbeatable in the realm of animation and family entertainment.
Last week, Disney’s latest Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film “The Marvels” continued to face significant setbacks, marking a historic low in the franchise’s box office performance.
The films’ lackluster performances are seen as a reflection of broader challenges within Disney. They have struggled in recent years with progressive portrayals in films that have left critics salivating at the chance to take the multi-billion dollar company down a peg or two.
Breitbart estimates that Disney will be forced to report nearly $750 million in losses across 13 movies that failed to meet their studio budgets this year. Many of the titles garnered headlines for controversial diversity castings or progressive narratives that included gay and non-binary characters.
Among the biggest losers is The Little Mermaid, which starred singer Halle Bailey and led to outrage among conservatives over Disney’s selection of a Black actress in contrast to the traditionally white portrayal in its famous animated film. Released in May, the film spent $325 million and needed $650 million to break even; it ultimately grossed $570 million globally, producing a net loss of $40 million.
Disney will close out a terrible year that builds off historic losses in 2022, including “Lightyear,” an animated film about “Toy Story” character Buzz Lightyear, which reportedly featured several LGBT plot lines.
Faced with declining revenues, many people have lashed out against Disney’s streaming service, Disney+. In the first quarter of 2023 alone, the service reported a staggering loss of $512 million, contributing to an overall streaming deficit exceeding $11 billion. During this period, the subscriber count dropped by nearly 12 million, reflecting the growing discontent among viewers.
