Transgender Starbucks Employee Fired After Assaulting Customer For ‘Misgendering’

On Sunday, a Starbucks employee who identifies as a transgender woman was fired from her job following an incident at a Southampton, Hampshire location. The altercation occurred near the ferry terminal and involved the employee verbally confronting a female customer and purportedly physically assaulting the man who recorded the incident.

In the video, the Starbucks employee repeatedly yelled at a woman who “misgendered” him. The transgender then attacked the man recording, telling him “give me your phone.”

After the video went viral, the transgender employee has since been let go. According to the Daily Mail, A Starbucks spokesman said: “The licensee has confirmed that the partner (employee) no longer works at the company. Starbucks has no tolerance for behaviour of this kind and we are very sorry for the experience that this customer had.”

Authorities have also initiated an investigation. The statement reads:

“It is alleged that the staff member engaged in verbal aggression towards a customer on the premises, and later assaulted a member of the public who was recording the incident.”
