WATCH: AOC Loses It During Biden Impeachment Hearing, Throws Wild Temper Tantrum

In the high-stakes drama unfolding in the congressional impeachment inquiry against President Joe Biden, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) got into a heated exchange that quickly escalated into a temper tantrum on Wednesday.

Former business associate of Hunter Biden, Tony Bobulinski, testified before the House Oversight Committee this morning. Chairman James Comer (R-KY) had previously extended invitations to Bobulinski, alongside Hunter Biden and Devon Archer, another figure involved in the investigation; however, Biden and Archer did not attend.

The testimony took a turn when Bobulinski said he had witnessed actions by President Biden that could be deemed criminal. Pressed for details, Bobulinski enumerated “Corruption statutes, RICO and conspiracy, DARA.”

Ocasio-Cortez then launched into an excessive diatribe as she chastised the Republican majority for embarking on what she views as an impeachment crusade. “Clearly, what we are seeing here today is a continuation of the 15-month saga of the Republican majority lost in the desert impeachment 101.”

“The majority party, or whomever is raising impeachment, must accuse the president of a high crime a specific high crime or misdemeanor,” said AOC. “This entire impeachment inquiry is based on an actual, provable individual who has lied.”

The U.S. House of Representatives, led by the Republican majority, opened the impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden in the latter part of 2023. The move was primarily driven by allegations related to Biden’s handling of foreign affairs and his family’s business dealings, particularly focusing on his son, Hunter Biden.

Republicans have raised concerns about potential conflicts of interest and misuse of power. An actual impeachment would require a majority vote in the House of Representatives, and removal from office would additionally require a two-thirds majority in the Senate.

“Hunter Biden’s defense attorney, Abbe Lowell, weaponizes letters to Congress to try to smear my name and make the cold hard facts in an attempt to save his powerfully connected client and his father. I challenged Mr. Lowell to make those claims on national television so he can be held accountable for his lies,” Bobulinski said earlier in the hearing.

With Democrats largely viewing it as a politically motivated move ahead of the 2024 Presidential election, Republicans argue that it’s a necessary step to ensure accountability and transparency in the presidency. Primary concerns revolve around Hunter Biden’s past involvement with foreign companies and whether his father’s position influenced these dealings or policy decisions.

Hunter served on the board of Burisma, a Ukrainian energy company, from 2014 until 2019. The period overlaps significantly with Joe Biden’s vice presidency under President Barack Obama. Many believe that Hunter’s role at Burisma posed a conflict of interest, given his father’s involvement in U.S. foreign policy with Ukraine. There were concerns about whether Joe Biden’s actions in Ukraine were influenced by his son’s position, particularly the firing of a Ukrainian prosecutor who was investigating Burisma.

The business activities of Hunter Biden and Joe Biden’s brother, James Biden, have been under federal investigation, with a focus on tax affairs and potential foreign lobbying violations. These investigations have been part of a broader debate about the ethics of politicians’ family members engaging in international business.
