WATCH: Biden Slips Down Concrete Stairs, Nearly Faceplants At G7
President Joe Biden nearly took a spill at the G7 Summit in Japan Friday morning as he stumbled down a small set of stairs before regaining his balance in what could have been a truly disastrous scenario for the President.
The president spent the morning hurrying between groups as he gained his bearings, with another interaction appearing to show Biden dazed and confused as he was navigated down a hallway toward a group of onlookers. His latest trip brings fresh attention to the persistent concerns about his age and vigor for the world’s most demanding job.
WATCH:
Despite assurances from the president’s physicians that he is in robust shape, the 80-year-old Biden has stunned onlookers over the years with a series of dips, trips, and tumbles that continue to plague his public appearances. He infamously tripped twice while ascending the stairs for Air Force One. In July he fell from his bike during a ride with the First Lady near their Delaware home. “I’m good,” he said at the time as cameras flashed to capture the memorable incident.
Concerns about Biden’s fitness come at a terrible time for the administration which is facing criticism from within the Democratic party over debt ceiling negotiations, the end of the country’s Title 42 immigration policy, and rising inflation. His own chances of reelection are in doubt as well: a recent poll showing former President Donald Trump holding a clear seven-point lead over the incumbent has stunned liberals as the possibility of his return to the White House remains not only possible, but plausible.
The president is facing two challengers for the Democratic nomination: Robert F. Kennedy, the nephew of President John F. Kennedy, and spiritual guru Marianne Williamson.
