WATCH: Confused Biden Racks Up Gaffes During Awkward Presser With Japanese Leaders: ‘Who Am I Yielding To?’

In what was once again an awkward exchange during a joint press conference Friday, Joe Biden seemed disoriented, creating a series of uncomfortable moments with his Japanese counterparts.

The presser, meant to underscore the close ties between the U.S. and Japan, was highlighted by a series of gaffes by the U.S. President. In one particular instance, when prompted to yield the floor to another speaker, a clearly befuddled Biden asked, “Who am I yielding to?”

This was quickly followed by an announcer’s speech, clarifying, “Ladies and gentlemen, the prime minister of Japan.” To which Biden incorrectly responded, “President.”

Adding to the series of missteps was a moment where Biden, in the midst of addressing the challenges arising from the global pandemic, was caught in a tangle of words. “…so we can get ahead of the issues as they appear with the experience, that we’ve experienced during the pandemic — excuse me, this is falling off…” he mumbled.

In an ending that encapsulated the overall disorienting nature of the presser, after his speech, Biden seemed to forget to unplug his earpiece and then walked away without the customary gesture of shaking hands with the other two leaders present.
