WATCH: Elon Musk Slams Biden In Revealing Interview
With a pause and a sigh, Elon Musk said what today may be on the minds of many voters who supported President Joe Biden in 2020: “I wish we could just have a normal human being as President.”
Musk, who recently sat for an interview with CNBC at his Tesla production factory in Austin, began his answer by stating Biden won the 2020 election before pivoting to air his disappointment with the 46th president:
“You know, there’s that old saying of like, we’re better off being run by people picked at random from the phone book than the faculty of Harvard. I don’t know who said that, but it was someone very wise. And I would say if we could do that for president, that would be great,” Musk said.

Pressed by the reporter for a definition of “normal,” Musk continued:
“Somebody’s executive ability is underrated since the president is effectively the chief executive officer of the country. It actually matters if they’re a good executive officer. It’s not simply a matter of, do they share your beliefs, but are they good at getting things done? There’s a lot of decisions that need to be made every day, many of them unrelated to moral beliefs, and you just want a good executive.”
Musk added during his interview that a new “community notes” feature on Twitter allows for the correction of errors and misinformation which can circulate widely on the platform before being noticed. After the White House tweeted that seniors would be getting the largest one-year increase in Social Security benefits ever, readers added context that the increase was due to a 1972 mandate, not an action by the president. The tweet was later deleted.
Since his acquisition of Twitter, the Tesla founder has carved out the persona of a center-right contrarian who is willing to criticize figures on both the right and the left. In addition to knocking Biden for his advanced age and for failing to invite Tesla executives to an electric vehicle summit, Musk has stated he prefers “less drama” without President Donald Trump and would vote for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis instead.
