WATCH: Kaitlan Collins Humiliated After Stephen Colbert’s Audience Laughs At CNN

Stephen Colbert’s seemingly innocuous nod to CNN’s objectivity turned into a laugh on his late-night show, leaving CNN correspondent Kaitlan Collins visibly confused. The moment unfolded as Collins discussed former President Donald Trump’s “hesitation” in formulating critiques against Vice President Kamala Harris, contrasting sharply with his frequent attacks on President Joe Biden.

“Trump has kind of been thrown on his heels by this and he’s not really sure how to go after Vice President Harris,” Collins claimed. “He knew his attack lines on President Biden. He really has struggled with how to, how to go after someone who’s 20 years younger than him, who is a different gender, a different race. It’s kind of been this moment where he has not been able to coalesce around a single attack line.”

Colbert casually remarked to Collins, “I know you guys are objective over there, that you just report the news as it is…” which was met with audience chuckles. The reaction suggested that even a New York crowd isn’t entirely convinced of CNN’s neutral stance.

“Is that supposed to be a laugh line?” Collins asked, to which a sheepish Colbert responded, “It wasn’t supposed to be.”

Ironically Collins began her career at The Daily Caller, a conservative news and opinion website. She started as an entertainment reporter in 2014 and quickly rose through the ranks. By the time she left the organization, she had been promoted to the position of White House Correspondent.

Collins joined CNN in 2017 as a White House correspondent. At CNN, she has covered the Trump administration, and more recently, the Biden administration.
