WATCH: ‘Squad’ Democrat Calls Trump ‘Former White Supremacist-In-Chief’ During Durham Hearing
On Wednesday, Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) took aim at former President Donald Trump, calling him the “former white supremacist in chief” in a classless tirade. Bush, who represents Missouri’s 1st congressional district, made the comments while addressing the Durham Report, which she described as political in nature.
“St. Louis and I are here today to set the record straight about this political investigation conducted on behalf of the twice impeached, twice indicted former white supremacist in chief Donald Trump,” Bush said. She went on to criticize the Durham report as a diversionary tactic aimed at undermining the Mueller investigation and distracting from Trump’s alleged corruption.
“From the start, this entire investigation has been an attempt to undermine the findings of the Mueller investigation and distract the people of this country from Donald Trump’s corruption. That’s why it began just days after the release of the Mueller report,” she said.
WATCH:
Bush, a member of the progressive “Squad,” has been known for her outspoken criticism of Trump and his administration. Her claims, however, are biased and unsupported. Special Counsel Durham confirmed under oath that there was no adequate basis for the initiation of the investigation and that the FBI did not properly examine all the available exculpatory evidence.
According to Durham, the FBI mishandled the Mueller Report, continuing the investigation even when its agents couldn’t verify the evidence. The FBI also failed to interview key witnesses and relied on misstatements made by a confidential human source while ignoring exculpatory statements made by George Papadopoulos when they submitted the FISA application to surveil Carter Page.
Moreover, Durham had revealed that an FBI employee, Kevin Clinesmith, fabricated evidence in the FISA application process by altering a document from another government agency to falsely state that Carter Page was not a source for the CIA when, in fact, he was. Durham also criticized the FBI for hoping that the surveillance on Carter Page would “self-corroborate,” indicating that they were attempting to corroborate information after it was included in a FISA application, which is against standard procedures.
During his testimony, Durham also faced criticism from Democratic lawmakers, with Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN) suggesting that Durham’s reputation would be damaged due to his involvement with the Trump-Russia investigation. However, Durham responded calmly, saying, “My concern about my reputation is with the people who I respect, and my family, and my Lord, and I’m perfectly comfortable with my reputation with them, sir.”
Durham’s findings sparked heated exchanges in the House Judiciary Committee. In one instance, Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) suggested that the evidence of Trump’s so-called collusion with Russia was “very clear” even after the release of the Durham Report. This was followed by a moment of levity when House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan mocked the Democrats for their line of questioning, sparking outrage on the House floor.
Overall, Durham’s testimony brought to light the issues regarding the FBI’s conduct during the Crossfire Hurricane investigation. His findings suggest that the FBI lacked an adequate basis for the investigation, failed to examine all available evidence, and fabricated evidence to obtain FISA warrants. The conflict has resulted in a contentious atmosphere in DC and serious questions about the integrity of the investigation and the FBI’s actions.
